Early Access Review
I May re-write this when I can articulate a well written, proper review. But I want to just post something because this game deserves every single ounce of praise it can get.

This is my favorite FPS ever. This game is so good, I can't even say DooM anymore. The ONLY reason DooM remains the greatest FPS ever is because THIS game runs on GZDoom, I didn't say this for Nightmare Reaper, or Turbo Overkill or Project Warlock, or any of the other absolutely goated Boom Shoots. THIS game... is so effing good....

The Devs are GOATED btw. The way they interact with the community, they way they go SO EXTRA on EVERYTHING. They launched an Early Access game WITH WORKSHOP SUPPORT!!!! The accessibility options pushed the entire FPS genre forward, the commitment to paying attention to EVERY tiny detail. The immersion, humor, music, and polish. I doubt anyone is actually reading this, but if you are. Stop and just go buy the game.

Overview:
It's a short game with a personal story that says what it wants to say and gets out.

Gameplay:
However much of the game play is an analogy for frustration and mental health struggles and is intentionally meant to make you suffer. The last section of the game feels terrible to play, but that is the point.

Complaints:
The narrator has a strong accent that for me was incredibly hard to understand. I really wish there were subtitles.

Conclusion: It's $1 what else do you want.

Felt like playing a Studio Ghibli movie. There's some very strong Mononoke vibes and environmental subtext. Which is Amazing! If Hayao Miyazaki made video games, this is what it would look like!

Another GORGEOUS game from Nomada Studios, Conrad Roset, and The Berlinist. With full use of color pallet they have absolutely exploded the screen with something so lush and vibrant you could almost mistake it for 8K Monitor test video or some Imax reel. It's dripping in saturation. It looks like a living oil painting.

The game is not as emotionally devastating as GRIS which is fine and maybe subjective. It's still emotional, especially if you are an animal lover. But where GRIS firmly plants you in midst of despair and grief and left me curled up in a fetal position, this is much more of an adventure of life through the cycle of the seasons. Where grief is just a passing stage and you get to pet the doggo the ENTIRE GAME WHENEVER YOU WANT!

The gameplay is challenging if you want it and if you'd rather not there is a story mode. I didn't find the combat overly difficult except for not knowing what I needed to do on several occasions which lead to some frustration. The on screen button prompts are VERY faint and blend in entirely if you don't know to look for them. I got Stuck on a section intended to teach you a new ability because I literally couldn't SEE the button prompt. I had to look up a walk through to realize there was a button prompt on screen.

It's funny, the game has that thing where you tune the brightness so you can barely see the picture, but while normally this is used to keep the game dark enough but still visible, in NEVA it's the opposite. You MAY need to turn down your monitor brightness if you are sensitive! If you got one of those high nit oleds, good lord you are in for it!

GRIS was a masterpiece and it's hard to follow that up, and while I doubt anything will ever hold up to what GRIS managed to do, I think Nomada knocked it out of the park with this. If you like art and platform games, if this game interested you at all, then get it! You won't be disappointed!

I was intrigued by the premise. I'll admit I had doubts. I was worried it was going to be edgy just to be offensive.
I'm glad I gave it a shot, because this game is AMAZING. Voice acting is PHENOMENAL! A work of art.

It's simultaneously cathartic, horrifying, and hilarious. The dialogue is fast and clever. It's steeped in honest nihilism and realistic cynicism. It's a silent rebuke to will full apathy while epitomizing the act of cloaking oneself in it.

It's like if you were to merge Quinn and Daria into one person, make it a choose your own adventure book written by Ayesha Erotica.

It IS dark, brutally direct, and unflinching. But Very Very Honest.

It's pure adrenaline. Absolute Chaos. As difficult as you need it to be, and It doesn't overstay it's welcome. It's a perfectly balanced blast with an incredibly satisfying ending and gorgeous animations and music. The Chapters are JUST the right length for someone who doesn't have a lot of time. And the endless mode will satisfy the insatiable. OH and if you are a speed runner, They have tuned some elements to be more accommodating. The Devs are active in the Discord and really great at interacting with the community. This game feels like it was made for me. I love it so much and my one biggest desire is that they make a physical edition big box copy of the game!

Cons: It is on the shorter side
I'm FIRMLY in the camp that 20 buks for a WELL crafted 4-6 hour experience is money EXTREMELY WELL spent!
If you prefer long, boring 30+ hour grind games then THIS is not for you! You've been warned.

The game is amazing, but the devs are trans/homophobic and have taken a "censorship" defense against Slurs in the game. As such I cannot recommend this game. I wish I knew this before I gave them my money. Hate is not a price I am willing to pay to play a video game.

This game is amazing! The driving is the weightiest I have ever played. The way it manages to keep a HIGH level of tension for the entire run! for hours! Is insane! Pacific Drive is one of the EXTREMELY rare games that I ACTUALLY play after finishing the story. I don't normally replay or continue games. I Finish them and move on. This is one I am actively working to 100% It's THAT good!

So broken this is almost shovel ware. This is like early 2000's ms paint level seizure inducing deep fried acid trip. If the game play worked or even just the actual controls worked AT ALL it might be worth it. But this is equivalent to an early prototype someone gave up on. - Shame cause there's a decent game in there somewhere....

Early Access Review
This game is a genuine blast to play. It's not the most hyped game, but it's solid and approachable. I find myself coming back to it all the time. I picked it up in Early Access when it first launched and it's come a long way! I'm super excited for the full release. Let me say this.
I'm NOT the kind of person who plays games or watches Shows over and over. So when I say I keep playing this game every month or so, That's a BIG deal for me.
I'll update this after I play through the 1.0 release
