It's a very pretty game, no arguments there, but there are a lot of issues that unfortunately bog it down, and nice art is not enough to save it.

Firstly, the technical bugs. After a while of playing the game starts to hang. Either it flat out doesn't react to you clicking on things, or it does the action but the cursor then remains in the "wait" stage so you're unable to click on anything else. While both of these can be resolved by exiting the game completely and reloading, I shouldn't have to do this just to play a game. This has been going on for a while, checking the discussions, but it seems that it's not going to be fixed, and for that, it gets a mark down.

The next thing is the fact that the devs are well aware that there is a bug involving one of the orbs and rather than fixing the bug they just changed the achievement so you don't need that orb. Again, lazy developer not fixing bugs.

And finally, the puzzles. I love point and click games, I have plenty in my library that I enjoy playing, but this is not one of them. Some of the puzzles are nigh impossible unless you know what you're doing, which means that on your first playthrough you're going to struggle like hell. This is made worse by the game not even explaining anything, expecting you to infer it from the cartoon bubbles "talking" to some characters produces. While I think that not having dialogue in the game is an interesting design choice and it could work, here it just adds to the frustration.

Lastly; not all the interactable icons change your cursor, so good luck clicking on EVERYTHING to see if you can interact with it. Pixel hunts are the bane of any point and click player and here it's especially bad.

Oh dear. I really did want to like this game, we need more otome out there, but about the only good thing in this game is the BGM, and even that's only in a "well it doesn't make my ears bleed" kind of way.

The mishmash of realistic backgrounds (with real people in them, at times) and the anime sprites has been mentioned but it really is jarring, especially when there are real people in the background. At least use backgrounds that don't have actual people in them!

The match-3 game... is tedious, and why am I playing Candy Crush with file extensions to fix a ship's engine? Or get coolant flowing? The minigame makes NO sense, and just gets annoying. Also, your character's supposed to be on holiday, but every five minutes someone needs her to fix their gadgets with the minigame. It's tedious and ruins the already poor pacing.

If you missed anything, I hope you have good eyes, because the log has another one of these real life backgrounds and black text. It's almost utterly unreadable, which for a log function is unforgivable.

And the characters are just... bland. I didn't feel any connection with any of them, and I quite honestly found Santiago's come-ons disturbing. I know that every character can't be a winner, but give us something to go on.

All in all it's a very poor game, and I only have it because it was part of a bundle I picked up, I certainly wouldn't pay full price for it. The devs are still around and making new games, so hopefully they've taken the flaws of this one into consideration, and I wish them the best of luck in creating future games. This one, sadly, will be played for the achievements and uninstalled.

Incredibly short if you know what you're doing but a completely unique point 'n' click adventure. Just a shame that this is the heavily shortened talkie version - a lot of the thought-provoking dialogue got the snip to fit the voices on the CD, which isn't an issue with Steam. It would be nice if you could choose between the original, full version and the shortened 'talkie' but it's still a beautiful game either way!
