I really want to recommend this, I really do. The connection issues with DSL and landline users is difficult to work around, and nothing seems to make it any more playable for my end. I've tried requesting some update to repair these issues and lessen the workload for the connection I use, living rural makes gaming a bit difficult at times in scope of selection and availablity so I'm gonna have to thumbs down on this game. It's a bit disheartening because I really enjoyed playing when the connection was stable, but I feel like this is more an issue on the server side than it is on my end, and having client end connection stablity demands is something that really shouldn't be in place for a game that can be played solo.

The character models, the story line, the atmosphere, the quests, the UI, the social features, the music....I cannot possibly overstate how much I love this game. Updating this: The only real problem I see with the game right now, is the lack of housing availablity for players coming into the game at the proper rank and level for it. It's really difficult to find a good housing plot, and the apartments are miserably tiny. I really hope the next patch helps ease the housing issue....it'll be nice to have a housing plot in the Lavander Beds. :)

As someone that has tested the original TL series, I wanted to give this a well fleshed out review for those that are hesitant to buy into Early Access, and perhaps after release as well.

The game needs players willing to test out it's content and the development team has been spacing out the wipes patches and content updates in larger gaps to see how stable the game itself is with higher population. A lot of these negative reviews aren't even close to honest in regards to the game play, the features of the game itself, or it's content and community. No, Runic isn't developing this one, and that's fine. Echtra has a good handle on this, and they are not ruining the series. In fact, they are adding a lot of content that was most commonly used by the TL2 community for enhancing game play, improving balancing, and added new classes and pets to the game to play with.

If the thought of losing a character you spent hours on leveling, and playing through quest chains bothers you, then don't buy it right now. Wait until it hits release and buy it then. But for now, only game play mode available is multiplayer, so you'll run into other players doing their quests in the hubs and cities across the game world. You could chat with them, but most don't even use chat, for whatever reason. (I do, I love chatting with people in games and making new friends.) For what it lacks in keeping characters at the moment, it's stable enough to play and you can join parties with others to run through more challenging content, mapworks, or just do quests as a team. You can always solo as well, but me...I prefer teaming up.

Calling out all Diablo 1 and 2 fans, this game is legit probably the most fun I've had with a hack-and-slash since the release of Diablo 2 LOD. I love the music, the gameplay is so smooth and transitions so easily from one map to the next. The story line really drags ya in, and gets darker as you get further along in the game content. I'm not super far into the game yet, but I'm already enjoying the nostalgia this title stirs.

The graphics are actually really cute, but also very detailed with the atmosphere and enviroment.
The characters are cute and lovably designed, your own character has a lot of options to choose from and many more to be discovered in the game world itself as well. The shopkeeper function is kinda boring but once you get past a certain point you can hire on assistants to work for the day in your place for 30% of the profits. (It's high wage but worth it if you sell things worth a lot to the villagers and people in the surrounding isles.) Last but not least, the clothing - oh my goodness, there's so many options and colors to choose from! A lot of them you discover in the game like the skins and some faces and I don't know what else is hidden away in this charming little game. There's no fall damage to speak of, your character doesn't seem to take any damage at all except for the dungeons, I hadn't delved into them yet but the game seems to be preparing me for some fighting in the future. Anyhow, the story is charming and this game is a delightful breath of fresh air. I highly recommend to anyone that enjoyed Stardew Valley, and Minecraft. It shares a lot of similar features with a layer of cute that is just difficult to resist loving.

Pros
* You can build your own home with the materials you collect in your adventure through the world.
* You can change the appearance of your equipment, mounts and vehicles with items you breakdown and collect.
* The boss fights are a challenge and fun to do with friends or guildmates, or even solo if you are strong enough.
* The community is very much thriving.
* You can join I think up to five guilds, or more (I hadn't played in about a year so I'm catching up on a lot of changes.) and you can join your friends in an instant on the same maps to help with more difficult monsters and bosses.
Cons
* Specialty guilds are kind of hard to find. Creating one takes time and dedication to drum up interest and garner a decent group to play with.
* There are some bosses that require to play with others in a group "raid", so you will need to learn to play well with others.
* There is a mild learning curve, mastering your class takes a while, and getting the other classes unlocked requires either money, or some serious farming to get the tokens to do so. (I had most of the classes unlocked except for the dino tamer and that farm was taking forever. x.x)
* The tutorial doesn't really cover as much as it really should for your class and your character as a whole. Better explainations at the start will help players better understand their class choice and it's functions. (I doubt the devs look at steam reviews but hey, give it a bump if it helped ya out.)

Definitely a great hack and slash game with a topdown playstyle. Feels like Diablo 3 SHOULD have been molded into, but far different. This game does have a learning curve, but no where near as hard as some games are. Once you get into it, and give about an hour of play time, you'll definitely want to play more.

This game has been a little life saver for someone that suffers severe anxiety and depression. Not to spoil it, I did cry a couple times in the game and it's quite a sweet story with a lot you can do. Love it, played it, and continuing to play it as updates present themselves. :) Thank you ConcernedApe, this game saved my life.

So amazingly 80's, it'll knock your socks off.
