The next hidden gem since Undertale

Blew expectations out of the water. I grew up playing .Hack on PS2 and remember worshipping the series in middle school for its maturity and depth. CrossCode takes a similar concept and digs so deep into world-building, character chemistry, emotional expression and the implications of the events that unfold that I find myself really hard-pressed to call this game anything other than passionately crafted. The writing is as fun and vibrant as Earthbound’s and matched with a style that reminds me of those early mobile Zenonia games. The devs clearly spent their time in early access polishing the hell out of this game because it shines with as much personality and charm as any Undertale, Shovel Knight, A Hat in Time, or even the GBA Legend of Zelda titles. My eyes are definitely going to be peeled on the developers’ next work, sequel or otherwise.

Tldr; I expected a short but fun indie game but got pleasantly surprised with a lengthy masterpiece. Frequently found myself hooked and unable to put the game down.

9/10 would pay to have another treetop boss battle against Goku and Free Willy
