It's aight.

So, I have a fairly decent gaming laptop and I run most games on Ultra (BFV, all the COD games and RE2:Remake etc. ) on ultra but the frames on this game made it borderline unplayable, hard lack of settings and inability to adjust mouse sensitivity as well as no IMMEDIATE access to the multiplayer was a big turn off. I had the game refunded as it wasnt worth the $60 but ill definitely pick it up again on a sale.

DayZ. DayZ is an interesting, enjoyable, frustrating and complicated expirence. There's no map, no vehicles(yet) and the mechanics seem clunky. However, it manages to succeed in 3 crucial, and (arguably) the most important aspects;
-Gameplay
-Planning
-control
The gameplay is addicting. After about 4 hours you become immersed; enrolled in it's enviroments and lack of story.
You feel alone, which is exactly what you should feel during a zombie apocalypse. You should feel helpless, endangered, and ever cautious about what lurks around every single corner. Survivors are a mixed bag, some help you, some kill you. It's all about you and your needs, but others will compete with you and eventualy you WILL end up dead.

Planning is everything here. In DayZ if you don't plan your dead; you end up walking into a trap and admiral Akbar ends up disappointed with you because you didn' t head his warning.Work alone or with a fire team, either way, figure something out before you end up like a cooked goose on christmas.

The control is fluent and responsive, even if you do end up hitting the ground trying to bash a zombie with an axe. Occassionaly I end up with a stuck key, but not something that can't be fixed with a double tap of that key.

Overall DayZ is a fun expirence but It's only early access and alot of stuff is out at the moment. Therefore, Don't purchase this unless your willing to deal with bugs, glitches and occassional nuissances. However the game is far from broken and has regualr maintenace done to it every wendsday. This is just my opinon but I think you should deffinately pick this up.
