Played the game since Open Beta and throughout its days on Epic. I was laying down the game for a long while but was kinda excited about the announcement of this update when i got it recommended. And oh boy, I had zero clue why the game has gone downhill on the choices that have been made until I've read that Phoenix Labs got bought out by a crypto company. From here on out, it made all sense. The new Awakening update turns this game which was already having certain divisions in the community on what has been implemented throughout the years but acceptable to its core. into a mobile game version of itself.

Before it all, it was just a more "budget" Monster Hunter with different design and gameplay extensions, it was totally fine for what it was and just needed some more content. Now, you gotta unlock weapons via battle pass or the cash shop and leveling them up with items you can buy from said shop or doing a ridiculous amounts of bounties; the worsened performance, deleting existing players gear, creating a terrible version of the cell system and so on. Also to add in, this game took like 6 years to get out of Epic to come to Steam. It should've done it way earlier even while the Reforge update exist, it would actually had a better chance but well the company got greedy and wanted more. It would've probably ended up like this anyways...

These changes were already insulting but the thing that made me mad is, that the devs try to gaslight the community and started doubling down on this on their Steam Newsletter, telling that we can grind and level our gear back quickly (which they had nerfed and made it even more complicated to thanks to the new cell system) cause of some boosted materials we got, called peerless aetherites and everything this update brought was fine, despite them getting clowned on by literally everybody. Funny enough these aetherites bundle they've given to veterans for free can't even max out one of your weapons, only until level 50-ish while Max Rank is 60. So, your weapon sits there as the game taunts you to farm countless bounties again just to hit one level or just buy it from the cash shop hit max cap, I mentioned before. By the way these aethers cost 12,50...each. BUT, since we all know modern gaming cash shops, there is no sell option for such a squinted price, you need to buy the 15 bucks option. Also, also...there are lootboxes now, which drops hunting weapons as well. Nice!

Phoenix Labs was feeling lucky on release day and decided then to even triple down on the drama by deleting posts, banning users from their reddit due to criticizing in regards of how much of a mess this game has become.
What this tells me is that they've given up on the game completely despite working on the Frostfall update which would be a nothingburger right now on top of the crap they've pulled off with this. Personally forget it, the only way to bring this back is to roll back everything this update has been flocked to the game and bring the Reforge Era back but to be honest, they already stated pridefully they wouldn't likely do that on their letter.

Oh well, since Monster Hunter Wilds is around the corner, people should save up money for that. Monster Hunter World exists as well or other hunting games. Heck, even Wild Hearts despite having also performance issues, is a better experience right now, if you dare.

TL;DR: The game is a free-to play gacha fest with a Darkest Dungeon skin. Get Darkest Dungeon with the Furriest Dungeon mod instead.

This game is quite a disappointment. Dong Wu Odyssey is what you expect when you see it: It's Darkest Dungeon in all its glory and mechanics but somewhat toned down, but with anthro animals. The main negative is that this game is filled to the brim with a gacha system, locking other heroes behind certain paywalls but can be gained via lootboxes, grinding or special events, stress recovery is behind a time wall after usage and so on. Its pretty much the typical dance we all know from these types of games today.

I was kinda interested in how the game unfolds when the demo was going on but bummed out by release when the words "Free to Play" appeared, totally expecting a priced title. The UI has some reminiscence of the game Armello; translation has some jank in it and certain coding errors. The story wants go on the history of the Three Kingdoms during the chinese dynasties with a fantasy tone. Sounds very interesting to be honest, if dialogue exist, of course. There are cutscenes but they only consist of every character talk to each other in comic text boxes with pictures in it or nothing with just certain body movements, no dialogue whatsoever. The only thing learning about the lore is via journal pages that must be deciphered which also is behind a timer.

The gameplay is solid enough, all the characters seem diverse in skills and battlecraft (if you ever get a much by luck or getting through increasingly stronger enemies) but personally its not enough to make the game stand out, when you can literally get Darkest Dungeon and mod in the Furriest Dungeon collection or manually search for good anthro mods you want for a much better experience, which i recommend.

Its kinda sad that this game turns out like this, the potential is here and the art designs for all the heroes are is best thing about the game. I rather have all these guys being modded into the DD workshop, to be honest. In the end, I would stay away from this.

Aside from dying probably a millionth time (due to me being absolutely awful in shooters and getting totally wrecked by a lot of skilled players inside) , I like what the game has to offer. The amount of detail in the gun sounds are amazing, so are its voiceovers of the character. Pretty believable, even the ragdolls. The gun shots sounds so meaty when you hearing It with surround headphones. No Nut November while playing Sandstorm on Dolby Surround goodness would be harder than climbing a mountain.

So far as starting out...I know, like every other game, its quite a pain in the butt when you start. But this game is REALLY hard in many moments when you start out. The one thing is the "realistic" take of the game and the other one is giving you no indication to your action. You need to be honestly sure about what you do, if you shoot someone and check twice before moving. The game wants 100% woke and I like it. You will get gamer moments out of this, trust me. I must also say even the AI on the Bots of Insurgency are really clever. Just training with them let me sweat countless times.

But well, lets go to the bad side of the game. The thing now what this game needs are more players and the developers waking up. I noticed a good drop on the base, definitely because it lacks something for the competitive people (if there are any left) cause they're mostly on Casual; wrecking newcomers like me, too less variety of game modes and the optimization of the game is pretty concerning. Sometimes getting lags in cases, the sounds sometimes disappear, including in matches. Very alarming when it happens. NWI has that in mind and starting the works for fixing it but yet its too slow. I have a feeling that the game is released a bit too early when I can say it. How about making sure that the game runs very smooth, extract all the modes they didn't add from the predecessor and just slap it on Sandstorm, like Strike and Survival etc. and more PR for the game itself?
Include maybe also the Steam Workshop for this game as well would be great. The last Insurgency had it, this one's still twisting their thumbs.

All this structure, the blueprint, the potential and ingredients for an amazing competitive shooter is right here but still not finished cooked. It still is really great, no doubt but the developers should really start pushing into it. Something like this is sad to be wasted. Its on sale now so I still recommend it. There is still a good amount of fun going on.

A true Space Ninja Experience!
Now introduced with the Fortuna Update Expansion: Hoverboards and a 2nd Open World area and waaay more to do. Still after this, there will be the upcoming cinematic story expansion and a Expansion with Spaceship battles in the near future. I must take my hat off infront of Digital Extremes, this game made it far and wide in the gaming market and is in many mouths of game reviewers and gamers on the internet. Years before this, the concept of Warframe was excellent but the execution was a total punch on the toilet flush. It was good but the fun factor was a hit and miss way too often and it was just too lackluster, but yet its amazing that they still fought that battle to improve the game from its mistakes. And now years later, its the today's example of "How to market your game right to the customers without the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥" and the best thing included is: It's absolutely FREE! All you do is just download the game and play. No need to pay for anything!
You definitely thinking right now: "When the game is Free-to-Play, means there must be a ingame item shop to buy special things and chances for Pay-to-Win?" Yeah...and no.

Yes, the shop has specific resorces inside but you can farm literally over 80% of the items and equipment from the shop by playing the game without spending a dime...if you are durable enough to farm. This game doesn't hold back with it, not in a mile. And No, all the items are more "Pay-to-Progress"or "Pay-to-own it quicker" than Pay-to Win.
The positive of Warframe is that it never shoves the microtransactions, etc. mutiple times in your face like any other type of FTP game and even Triple A games. This is something that is getting more and more rare in this generation of gaming and I never thought to believe that someone like DE will do it. A Dev team works hard on a game, gives this game out for free and improves over the years and still going on, they don't ask you for money, they just want your full attention and enjoyment to it and when you're fully satisfied with the game, you can always get some extras by buying something in the shop, giving them a "reward" for giving you a 100% experience with the game, if you want to. I wish many free-to-play titles could offer this example.

Though, there are still tidbits of things that could need some improvement (which to my dispositions is more of a personal problem), like the endgame experience, the Operator Mode/Form, having as new player lesser inventory space for Weapons and Frames and you need buy Platinum (*item shop currency) to buy more slots and so on but so far, THIS is the best 3rd-person action shooter that exist in this timeline with graphical outlook that even rivals high quality games. Digital Extremes are one of the few developers in the gaming industry, that actually wants to listen to player/community feedback and put all there effort to improve the game experience into new heights. Nevertheless, I hope they will try to fix these various problems in the future. Godspeed, DE!

For the people who never heard or played Warframe: Download the game and try it out! It's free, take your time cause there is much to understand and if it still lacks, the Community is pretty neat. They all lift together and will give you a hand on things. You sure will have a blast with it!

I must give this game a BIG thanks for existing first. I was following the Story of Motiga, of how they strife to work on Gigantic with a lot of passion and sitting for quite some time on the Beta state until they finally escaped the hell they've been put in for a long time. The Investment and funding problems, money gaining issues, the leaving of their old publisher, etc. I'm still amazed that even after all these problems on their back ,the whole team just arrived at work like nothing happened, with the knowledge that they'll get no financial gain out of it, until Perfect World Entertainment got them covered and released the game, last year.
It was a troublesome adventure that Motiga took to finally reached the end....but sadly that Victory didn't last long and Motiga got shafted afterwards due to "not acquiring the success as they had intended". And you know the result:
"When the Dev Team dies, the game does too."

For the game can point out different things but before that, you want to know:

What Is Gigantic?

It's a 3rd person Action-Hero Shooter-esque game with MOBA elements. Think about, pushing a payload; going from point A to B and Team Deathmatch like in other titles with the same niche. But now imagine, both of these modes fused together and that the payload is literally a huge Griffon or a Naga which can fight back when enemies are close. And if you and your team taking the upper hand on the other team by getting kills or defeat the deployable creatures on the enemies side of the map or your creatures harvest enough, you earning power for that. Get 100 power and the Rampage Phase starts. In this Phase, your Team's Guardian will traverse the map, trying to slay anything and everything down in 20 seconds before slamming and pinning down the opponent's Guardian for your group to attack it and land a Wound. Do it 3 times, land 3 wounds and you win the match. A simple concept but behind it is still so much more to learn.

Let's get on the different characteristics of Gigantic:
  • Visuals: It's simply BEAUTIFUL! I've never seen a free-to-play game with such graphical quality and stunning enviroment with an Artstyle that as Gigantic, that shines perfect in what it touches. A vibrant and mystique melt of colors that oozes full of life. The visual aesthetics alone gave me a step into trying out the game.

  • Sound/OST : Its something I noticed, that people not really much talking about. The Soundtrack did its job pretty good on emphasizing the personality of the game. From the Main Menu/Start Screen theme; opening up a huge orchestra afterwards following with a flow of calm mystical sounds, guitar strings and flutes, going in-Battle with smooth, atmospheric tones, to the Rampage Phase's heavy, heartpumping and more heroic sounds and set of instruments which owns House Aurion and the House Devaedra's more dark, vindictive and chilling take. (If you are newcomer to this, there are 2 teams: Aurion and Devaedra. And No! You can't pick sides, its totally random which team you're getting in.)

  • Heroes/Characters : There are 23 of them (actually 24, they never got to re-realeased Roland) and every single one plays totally distinct from each other, like you're playing a different game on what your choice of Hero is. There are Magicians, a Sniper,a Gunner, a Bowcaster, Bladebearers, even a Martial Artist which plays like a 3D Action fighting game by the use of his. There was also some little controversy with one of the Heroes which having simularities with Overwatch's Bastion (and yes its also a Robot that can transform into a Turret). But for the most part, all of the Heroes have really great designs and of course, due to the Art Design and Colors, they express with more persona as they already have.
In shortstop, the Heroes are looking fine and dandy and there is a Hero for everybody...probably.

  • Gameplay/Combat : The combat is fast, fluid, full of action and strategic on how you persuade to beat your opponents together with your team. Literally, the same what the description said. With the types of attacks as a Close Combatant, lIke dodge attacks or side step attacks, air strikes and skill combination with typical combos; coming pretty useful in Battle. But on the downside of the usage for these attacks is Stamina. Every action from jumping, dodging and sprinting uses stamina only while in a fight; outside of a fight, movements like sprinting and jumping will costs nothing. Why that? Fighting enters a Battle state DUH! (that state will indicate between the HP and Stamina as little crossed swords, glowing up). You want to leave that state? Easy. Dont fight, run away and wait for 6-7 seconds. Be sure to not getting attacked while you are running away, it'll cause you to stay in that situation, let's your stamina to run out and gives the opponent the sharper edge to stike you down. Ranged-Type Heroes are rather limited in combat styles and mobility choices but in return; owning a versatile utility to get away from battle and using lesser stamina as a result, giving the Close Combat Heroes a tougher time to track and face them. With that, there is also a skill upgrade path in which you can choose bonus abilities, buffs and alternative attacks each level you earned in the Match for your Hero, making situational choices on skills to dish out more damage and setting debuffs in your attacks to return the favor. This game also has a really high Time-To-Kill than any other games. While other ones lets you kill enemies faster, in Gigantic you must approach more swift and skillful on coming out as a winner in a duel. But, its still team game, so trying to coordinate and sync your skills and attacks, this could be more of a way to go.
That's it! Its all I could offer to you BUT every game has problems. So let me give you a quick run on Gigantic's:
- The game has only ONE game mode.
- The weird launcher amalgamation by needing Steam and the Arc launcher exclusive for this game to run it.
- No Ranked Mode in a PVP-focused game.
- Key mechanics are told in the game but advanced moves and features are totally left out in the dark.
- No Spectator Mode
- Bugs still somewhat exists
- The missing playerbase Totally! Of course! This is still the issue to this date
- The 6 GB RAM requirement
- Pretty shallow marketing
- The Oversaturation of Gigantic's genre

I can imply that most of these problems could've been fixed, if Motiga was still with us BUT if you are buisiness like Perfect World and you didn't hit that money count with that product; no matter how unique or great, you gonna fall off that boat and sink. But hey, let us play after the Death of Gigantic these spectacular games: Paladins Battle Royale, PUBG, Fortnite BR, Battlerite Battle Royale, Call Of Duty Black OP 4 BR and Battlefield 5 BR
Isn't the amount of diversity we have simply great? Absolutely disgusting!

For my last words, I'm pretty sad that this Game has to go, even in that small time I noticed it last year, its already my favourite game I love to play. But all good things can't last forever. For now, I will be heavily playing it until it goes on the 31 July. I'm at least very happy that I could be a part of this game. You are still scratching your head and aksing: Is this game good? Well, I 100%ly recommend giving this dying game a chance and check it out. Its your favor to like it or not but you cant do anything wrong by just checking and try. Yes, the Queing will be adventure on itself but you will have your enjoyment on that game. Don't miss out! This "Review" is pretty sentimental but I wanted to share my 2 cents on it. There you have it.

Thank You, Motiga for this amazing treasure of a game!
EDIT: LADIES AND GENTS, WE ARE SO ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ BACK!
