I hate every dialog scene, and there are a lot. The deliveries are all terrible, with ridiculous Boris Badinov level cartoon accents, and they just make you stand around listening to boring exposition dumps while in non-interactive environments with no option to skip.

The enemies are also spongy as hell. It is anti-fun to run out of ammo killing some small dog monster and then have a second spawn in. I can't be bothered to get past the opening, it's just so alternately boring and annoying. The guns just feel kind of crappy as well, with default bad gun angles (they patched in a way to fix it manually at least) and bad grip points. Half the times I try to grab a pistol 2-handed, it just switches hands, and I've never been able to tell what's wrong with my gesture.

The world feels barely interactive, and in an unsatisfying way. Like, you have a guitar that you can pick up and strum on, wouldn't it be nice if it played a few chords that sound nice next to each other? The most basic 1-4-5-4 even. Nope, it's just RNG discordant noise.

No attention to little details, bad implementations of the big. Looks bad, and feels bad. This was pretty disappointing to me, and at a fundamental design level that I don't see being fixed with patches.

GOTY 2024. Clever gameplay ideas, funny, and a story that surprised me and stuck in my mind. Tom doesn't miss,

Neat little action platformer with good pixel art animations. Solid combat, kinda eh platforming, but a fun enough playthrough to keep me onboard (and I usually bounce off of games like this). Interested to see what the dev makes next.

My opinion may change, I’m still early, but I am very annoyed at the lore dump at the beginning of the game. There’s like 10 named characters that are not really introduced, who keep talking about each other, and I just can’t follow it. I’ve barely got to play the game yet, but there is way too much story to open a metroidvania with, and it’s very poorly told.

A novel party game that was ruined by a bad progression system. I don't need grind added to my party games, and I don't want to use garbage tools until I unlock the actually usable stuff.

Interesting game. I generally hate waggle loco, but this game does a decent job justifying it. Disconnecting your arm motion from the bot motion slightly does good work to make it feel responsive with one to one movement, while also adding weight to the robo punches. The roguelite loop is also interesting. It's fun making builds with exponential buffs. It also looks nice with a fun style, and the music hits pretty hard and is fun to fight to.

Complaints: I wish more interesting stuff dropped faster. I've got to the final boss, but still haven't seen any cool buzzsaws or flail arms. I've only seen so far grabby hands (sucks), nail guns (sucks), and a few different styles of heavy bashing objects. I'd like more variety. I also wish there were more piloted robots to fight, and fewer robo dogs and bugs. My favorite fights are the heads up boss fights, but they are few and far between, with a lot of filler padding it out.

Fun game if you wanna swing hands around and try out varied mech builds, though.

I can't stand the wiggly floppy noodle arms and constant backspawns on DM. Looks nice, plays bad.

It's just a real bad game. Empty and half-baked, with some of the absolute worst levels I've ever played in any game, ever. It frustrates me just when I think back on my time playing it.

Just a fantastic game. An interesting deckbuilding roguelike with some fantastic world building. It's creepy and compelling and drives you to just keep playing by constantly introducing cool new mechanics and story elements. Don't read too much about it, learning about it as you go is half the fun. I've got some minor nitpicks, but it's my favorite new game of 2021.

New edit! The game went F2P, and I can get games now! The Best VR Game is playable once again, and I've been loving it.

Highly recommended to fans of movement shooters and arena shooters. If you are both, you'll be in heaven. It's Unreal Tournament weapons and general gameplay, but with high speed momentum-based movement that reminds me of Titanfall. There's nothing quite like building and maintaining momentum while landing sick midair rocket three-burst directs in a high speed duel.

Player base is small, but it has been active when I generally want to play, so I'm happy. And now is a fantastic time to start playing, there are a bunch of new players to learn the ropes with. Try it out, maybe it'll click for you like it did for me.
