absolutely fantastic story game, i cant wait for ep.3 to come out.

its fun

while complex and in need of some polishing and fleshing out. it is a great game in my opinion and like most paradox games i recommend you have friends play with you so that you can enjoy the memes this game allows. but aside from that you should wait, once this game goes through its first couple updates then it will be far more worth the money its priced at then it is now.

i first saw this game as a kid on youtube, and while it was only recently i purchased it and am sad that i never got to play with the various ftl methods i can happily state that this game is quite fun alone. i have even played it with another person to help them learn and that was just as fun as playing alone. but if i have to be honest multiplayer is quite the lot of fun, especially because your friend on the other side of the galaxy might be better off with a bunch of xenophile empires while you are dealing with space mafias the game can quickly turn in your favor.

on a quick side note, all of the in game content expansion dlcs are quite fun. i recommend you go for the species packs second to the story packs like federations and utopia. i have them all and honestly in my opinion its money well spent. and the best part is that if you plan on playing mostly multiplayer only the host needs all the dlcs to give everyone else access during the multiplayer session.
