Dude, I love this game. I got on and rekt some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

As a person who has a general dislike over most (really all) MMORPG's, this game came as an absolute surprise to me. I gave it a real chance into my heart, and y'know what? It came out okay. It still has a lot of the same elements that MMORPG's and Japanese games have that I hate. But all in all, this is a fantastic experience I can't stop coming back to.

First off, character creation. I hated it. Absolutely hated it. Everything looks stupid and so blown up and anime, that I wanna drill my eyes out. I play female characters more often than not. Not because "they're hot," or because I am or want to be. Just because I do. But there's absolutely no way to play a female character without ass, and or tits thrown in everyone's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ face. For god sakes they're practically naked.

Second off, mindless ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ questing. Another element from I think every MMORPG ever, is mindless ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ "talk to him, talk to her" quests that don't ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ matter. I don't give a ♥♥♥♥ about your politics, I'm tryna fight ♥♥♥♥ and look cool. There has to be a better way of introducing story elements to me than this ♥♥♥♥. For such a "unique MMO" that's some real formula ♥♥♥♥ right there.

I saved the best for last, however. The combat. The combat is by far the greatest thing I have ever seen in any MMORPG I have ever seen/played. It's fun, it's intuitive. It makes me feel like I'm using skill and a combat driven mind. It hints at Dark Souls, and really just feels like Monster Hunter. Because it basically is Monster Hunter. It's Monster Hunter but MMORPG and weirder. Regardless of the painful similarities to an all-round better game, Tera is still the most fun I've ever had in any MMORPG ever. So, yeah, thumbs up.

To summarize right away; 8/10, it's fun and is beautifully crafted. Defeinitely gets repetitive quickly, though.


Right away this game kinda jumps back to some older gameplay styles, it's highly intuitive. It teaches you some of the base mechanics right away in the intro, but it doesn't really give you the whole bag, it kinda makes you figure the rest out, which I personally enjoyed. There were a lot of "I can do that?!" moments throughout gameplay.

The platforming works really well, and the controls feel responsive enough. The design is a real eye catch, everything is gorgeous and so lovelingly animated. It's highly reminiscent of Metal Slug in a lot of ways. The actually gameplay feels a lot like MS, and the atmosphere is similar in a lot of ways too. I actually started to pick up a few silly references to MS, and other games similar, including Metal Gear Solid.

Boss fights at first were kind of a pain in the ass, though once I got the swing of things, they again became very intuitive and doable. They brought a Monster Hunter feel to it in how you had to track the bosses around the map.

Last good note I'm giving is the weapon crafting system. That ♥♥♥♥'s fun. Nothing gives a more personal feel to combat when you yourself had to scrounge up the pieces and put together your own weapon. Their are so many different pieces, and it's all together a very nice touch. It could have easily been replaced with weapon drops and no one would have noticed, and that shows the care put into making this.

Now onto the negative: It's REALLY ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ repetitive. You have set stages per rank of mission and you keep going back to those same maps continuously. This was kind of my deal on Peace Walker, though it wasn't nearly as bad there since the maps cycled more frequently. Here, you end up dealing with the same map per chapter.

Last thing I'm gonna mention, I saw a few rags on storyline. I kinda didn't feel like the story was all that important here, given you're a mercenary. The characters all had a bit of personality, and your actions felt like they mattered to the world, so it was good to me.

To conclude, 8/10 would recommend.

This game is great, and I really like where it's headed. One ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ thing though that's pissinng me off, nerf those ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ pistols. They are way too much. They deal way too much damage for their reach and speed. It's pistol master race and it makes me cry like a widdle baby.

I personally recommend this game to anyone looking for a good LAN party. It's fast-paced, action-packed, it beautiful to look at. But it loses it's fun the second you play alone. Anyone with local friends willing to all crowd around a single screen, I'd suggest playing with the tournament mode. Definitely fun! Outside of a LAN party though, forget it. The fun just isn't long term. There's only so many maps, and the combat becomes repetitive.

It's cute as hell, and fun to play. Definitely a good one to set up a little party and jam with friends on for awhile if you guys are bored. SOmething I'll most likely be going back to often!
