So very good, just blasted through the first difficulty. An incredible feeling. I live to crush the enemies of the empire beneath my boot.

My non recommendation is likely temporary. I've already purchased and refunded this game once, and have now repurchased after I saw a sale, and that it was pushing new content. I want to see where this development goes because from my perspective, this is legitimately the most interesting porn game out right now. It's never lacking in sex content, and the gameplay is acceptable. I have nitpicks however. Lots of them.

First one that irks me the most is narration choices. It reads like it was written by a horny 30 year old. It very well may have been, I don't know, but you don't need to keep telling me how large her tits are they're right in front of me.

Another is the lack of body hair of any kind on any feminine figure whatsoever. We're sailors, I refuse to believe we have time to shave, at least not so perfect and neatly. It's fantasy, so I don't particularly care if NPCs are shaven but you can't even choose to be hairy yourself. Frankly, there's very little customization choice at all. You get one single body type and then you decide how wide and tall it is, and if you fancy, you can have little "muscle" lines drawn in. There's very little variety at all. There's no point to find out what people look like naked, you've seen one, you've seen them all.

Then there's combat and dungeons. People have given in depth explanations to the problems with that, and the devs released information on updates directed specifically towards those systems, so I'll hold my gripes and wait to see how it plays out. To summarize, long and tedious.

In conclusion, I actually like a lot of what's happening here. Things are drawn neatly, the characters are interesting enough, and the sex scenes are good. Gameplay is right within acceptable. It just feels under developed, but that's an under-development title for you. Best of luck to the devs, I can't wait to see how it plays out.

Seems poorly optimized. Thought the issue was my hardware, so I upgraded. Went from 970 to a 2060s, that should be more than reasonable. still handles terribly and drops frames. Also the AI seems a tad dumb, tho I did see mods that advertised fixing that. May try it. Fingers crossed for optimization update. I upgraded my entire PC alongside the GPU, that's just what seemed most relevant. can send specs if asked.

To revise me review, Steam has made a statement that download time will not be counted. With that in mind, this simulator does almost everything advertised. There are some locations that simply are not available, but they're extremely remote. Places you wouldn't think to go unless you were testing the limits of the sim. Other than that, I plan to use this as a replacement trainning tool, happily removing X-Plane 11 from my list of sims. It feels more natural, and allows greater on the spot control. Keep in mind, you need a beasty computer for it.

OBSOLETE-Download time after the initial "download" is guaranteed to be well over 2 hours, all spent "in game." You will not be able to refund this in the event of issues, or if you simply dislike it. I got in, and I'm happy to announce that I really love the game. But for people who are unsure, I'd keep an eye out. The mixed response and reviews will hopefully be enough for Asobo to attempt to fix this issue. Either refund time needs to be extended to 2 days, as the download time can take up to 24 hours, or they need to put the scenery installation in with the initial download. For some reason it verifies with your Xbox account before the download too, so there's a chance Microsoft is forcing their hand. In that case, I don't imagine anything will change. I love this simulator, but Microsoft should be dismantled along with every other corporation of similar size. Good game, but for now, I cannot recommend.-

EDIT: So, after playing in the testing branch and reading conversations going on in the discord, I think the only change at this point that needs to happen is a change of the name. Just get 'Simulator' out of there. Other than that, at this point, it at least feels fun to fly now. It's snappy and responsive, yaw turning isn't expected anymore. You certainly need to crank the elevator to get anywhere in a hurry, but it works, and it feels good to do. So, it's a very fun game to play. Wish I had more time to fly with the minimal fuel amounts, but that is a small gripe. The testing branch flight model is fun. I'm going to change to recommended, mostly out of respect for the devs and their rapid response. I would still really love to see more polish. There are a lot of other small issues going on. One of them is the map for the larger island. It's the same square copy-pasted several times. I assume this is a placeholder, but without their word I don't know.

Final statement, buy this game as a game. Don't expect deep simulation. It's fun, it's challenging, and requires good management of time and fuel.

-OLD REVIEW-

I really really love the concept. There's so much good here. In the current state, I cannot recommend you buys this game. The flight mechanics are so counter intuitive. I've heard talk that the devs feel justified in their mechanics, someone said "it's supposed to fly like a brick" but the truth is it doesn't even fly like a brick. The way these aircraft move in forward flight configuration defies physics. In flight mode, the mechanics make absolutely no sense. I'm a student pilot with 11 hours in the cockpit, and an avid flight simmer with many more hours in games like IL 2 and X Plane 11. I'm currently studying to take my written test, so the theory is fresh in my mind when I say this. I understand that these aircraft are fictional, but they have wings with airfoils, aerodynamic designs, and we know how heavy they are. With that information I absolutely guarantee you that in forward flight mode, banking should equal a turn in the direction of the bank. Your wings generate lift, a vector aimed directly up from the orientation of the wings. When you bank, you are pointing that vector in the direction you want to turn. Maybe the aircraft would be sluggish on the controls, maybe they would be a handful, sure. But, for reasons completely unknown to me, in a bank, the aircraft does not turn. In fact, I have actually occasionally noticed the aircraft turning IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION OF THE BANK. You are forced to yaw the aircraft in the direction you want to go. No VTOL/STOL aircraft does this in forward flight configuration. When you try and steer your entire aircraft in the air with yaw alone, you run serious risk of putting it in a spin. These mechanics are confusing for beginners to flight, and extremely confusing for regular pilots. Right now I think that's the biggest factor holding this game back from being great. At the moment it has 0 publicity, and the reviews are so so, and it is likely to stay that way until this is fixed. The sad truth to that, is the devs seem to have made their stance clear. This will not be changed. Hopefully they see different some day, because again, I really really would like to play this game. The trade mechanics are great, the open world is fun, the world building is extremely engaging and interesting. It's a good world to be in. I particularly love the radio chatter between the other AI pilots, and the new customization update is fantastic. The flight just doesn't make any logical sense, and limits the game to stagnation.
