As a kid, I adored the Realms of Arkania series, like Blade of Destiny and Star Trail, and Skald brings back those fond memories while delivering something fresh and captivating.

The graphics are a fantastic nod to old-school RPGs, perfectly capturing that nostalgic pixelated charm. Yet, the gameplay feels modern and innovative, with a bespoke 2d6 system that adds a unique twist to each encounter. The storytelling is where Skald truly shines. The dark, Lovecraftian atmosphere is intense and immersive, and while I typically shy away from such grim narratives, this one kept me hooked the entire time.

Every detail, from the rich backstories of your companions to the clear and concise quest log, shows the love and care put into this game. It’s a perfect blend of retro aesthetics and contemporary mechanics. Skald isn’t just a tribute to classic RPGs; it’s a standout title in its own right. If you’re a fan of the genre or just looking for a great story-driven experience, Skald is a must-play. I'm absolutely loving it.

Entertaining. Easy recommendation for a few nice hours.

The game is just not there yet, playerbase seems small, so I get mixed with people from the other end of the world which creates a lagfest, dominion playmode doesnt make any sense at all and in general it feel unfinished.
Pretty graphics though.

Woaaah! All I see is KaBOOOOM, definitely amazing! :)

Great game that captures the relationship of a group of teenagers quite well and weaves it into a horror/supernatural storyline. The music fits and the game really gets you hooked. Go and try :).

Repetetive gameplay and very basic character development, not more to say here. You get the same but better and cheaper in e.g. Warframe.

5/10, would not buy again.

The game is only mediocre, after playing it for about 4 hours I feel like I did all I could do, build all there is to build and researched all there is to research. Now the game leaves me with endless micro managing every single NPC while spamming me with more and more zombies. Those are sadly 0 challenge at that stage, just gotta do it. And yes, that is it, the character development of each individual NPC is just tedious, the diplomacy not challenging at all and thanks to an abundance of resources I can also have everything I want.

Got it for 8 EUR, for that price it wasn't a total loss, killed some hours and since voting "meh" isnt an option I can only NOT recommend this game.

This game just gets u hooked, dont get irritated by the weird dubs and mediocre story, the game itself is just good rocking oldschool role playing, the developers got gold here.
