Don't listen to the elitists. This game is freaking hard (but fun all the same). The whole experience is very much focused on the visual and the audio. Looks and sounds absolutely phenomenal. Combat is Ok-ish I guess. Broken at times but nothing game breaking. Story is just garbage and childish. And also, what's wrong with these mind-numbingly boring side quests? Hey Mood GmbH, people came here for a linear game, so give us a linear game for Christ's sake and get rid of all these pointless side missions! Literally nobody cares about fetching a twig for a monkey or finding a pile of sh!te for a dung beetle. For Ori 3, spend the budget instead on writing a better main story or making your combat system more balanced will ya? Good game though.

The game itself is just utter sh!te - controls are garbage, AI is ridiculously re.tarded, and the story is ♥♥♥♥♥ up beyond all recognition. Still, worth the price. It's the game for one of them days, you know, when you just need to let it off. Don't do it in real life though. It's bad.

It's a good game no doubt, and if you are hesitating just buy it, definitely worth the full price. A masterpiece of open world gaming experience and probably one of the best entertainment products video game industry has ever offered. But for me, it is not - as far as RPG elements go - up there on the same level as the classics like Skyrim, DOS2, and the Witcher 3. It never gets personal or emotional, and I just don't feel the kind of attachment and connection with the game world and its characters. The story is a bit generic and towards the end very predictable, and I might be wrong on this but most choices up until the very end do not seem to make any difference. You are just on for the ride, not really 'role playing'. Like when you are confronted by the lawmen, you should have the choice to be a traitor and rat on your gang, if it is a true RPG. But no, in this you have to follow the story, not create your own. Which is not necessarily a bad thing but just not what I had expected. You do have the freedom to be a good/honourable person or a wretched scoundrel (a distinction reduced to an 'honour bar' which changes whenever you do something honourable or despicable), but that's pretty much it for role playing. The following is probably nitpicking but I was quite bothered by them:

- The combat is way too easy for keyboard and mouse, even without the use of the dead eye mechanism. No sense of challenge at all. Give me a cover and ample ammo and I can take out probably a hundred lawmen at ease.
- Aggression system is often broken. You bump into someone unintentionally, and he starts shooting you, and the lawman all shoot at you as well as if you are the provoker. Not all the time, but often enough to be annoying.
- There's too much money. The whole gang is crying for a lack of money to start a new life while I have thousands of cash which I don't even know how to spend. I didn't even try but I'd imagine it'd be quite easy to amass tens of thousands of dollars in game. This really takes me out the main story which is anchored around the gang's 'desperate' effort to get more and more money.
- The music, when it exists, is superb, but there is just too little of it. I'd like to have more background music playing.
- I don't know why they implemented this but every time you reload your save you are not at the location where you saved the game, but magically teleported somewhere nearby.
- Too much handholding, sometimes just annoying. Like for certain missions, the game forces you to use certain guns (by switching it into your inventory without your consent), while you have a another gun in your mind that you want to use.
- Mission structure can feel a bit monotonous and repetitive sometimes. The heist missions in particular. And the reward is just not worth it, because, just like what I said above, you often find yourself in possession of much more money than you know what to spend it on.

This might sound like a critique of RDR2, but it's actually a very good game, but just not quite there, for me personally, in the top level.

I was in the Sistine Chapel a couple of years ago, struggling my way in the swarms of tourists and safety guards, barely able to enjoy myself, and after trying this I have to say the VR experience is just far superior and more comfortable than actually visiting the place. You get to appreciate the artwork in peace, with no rush, at your own pace, and with a detailed personal guide that you can interact with. You know what, you can also hop on and control a lifter to get a closer look at the some of the paintings up high. There's also a feature where you can stand on the scaffolds (not there any more obviously) right below the ceiling which Michelangelo himself stood on when he was painting the ceiling, so you can actually see how he created all this. It's just amazing to look at these paintings from this angle.

Nice adaptation of VR technology. Hope to see more.

I've always thought that a good novel, whether in texts or visually presented, is one that compels self-reflection and invokes a sort of reconsidering of one's very being. Eliza for me is a gaming experience that achieves that effect. It deals with a subject that is becoming increasingly relevant in our days: AI, human modification, blurring boundary between what is human and what is not.

The story has a pretty straightforward plot line but is narrated in a thoughtful way that would ultimately lead you to make judgements on grand existential questions such as what is reality, what it means to be human, what you are willing to sacrifice for the 'bigger good', whether the "answer" lies in the external world or within ourselves, etc. So, there is a deep philosophical core to this game, but at the same time the story also manages to touch upon tangible problems of modern life like mental health issues, urban alienation, and so on.

On the side of presentation, the ambient music is really spot on, creating that futuristic and slightly dystopian vibe. The voice acting, which there is for every line of the conversation in the game, is top notch, especially for all the Eliza clients and Evelyn herself. Oh god, I just can't get enough of her voice...

Overall, Eliza is just a delightful game to play. It concerns itself with big nebulous problems of mankind but it avoided the trap of being overly obscure or 'philosophical' or 'artistic' that many narrative-driven games tend to fall into. Absolutely recommended.

Style over substance. That's my impression after finishing the game. Draugen has everything to be a great walking simulator - stunning graphics, excellent voice acting, solid writing quality, and a mysterious setting of a secluded Norwegian coastal village - BUT, there's one gigantic problem: the story is just not good. I'm sorry but it's not. It started very promising, but ended in such an unsatisfying way. A lot of suspensions are created in early game, but almost none of them is answered in the end. Imagine reading a detective novel, and you finally have all the clues at hand, and right before that exciting moment of revelation, the book just ends there. That's how it feels. All the mysteries in Graavik are just sort of brushed away, unsolved. Well, I guess you can say that's one of the messages the game is trying to convey, that some mysteries we came across in our life will just remain unknown forever. That's fair I guess. But still, I don't see how the two story lines - one about your sister, one about Graavik - can be connected in an organic way.

I still want to recommend it though, because I do like the style, and some moments of the story are done really well. My favourite part is the bits in the church and graveyard, so intense and emotional. But, as I said, the end game is such a bummer. Btw, this game is also 20 bucks and lasts 3 hours long. I don't know... get it in sales perhaps?

I should've known better than to play this game. It's like paying money to have your miseries exposed, parodied, and laughed upon in a different reality. Don't get yourself into this, guys. It's *AWFUL*. Every time I touched this game, looking at its depressing art style and hearing the melancholic music, it gives me that suicidal sense of despair and madness which oddly you would enjoy and get addicted to in the end. There's that something, je ne sais quoi, about letting yourself degenerate, having your life clung to the very basic stimuli of sex, drug, alcohol, and becoming an 'absolute disaster of a human being'. Yeah, Disco Elysium makes you feel the charm in doing all that, in game or in real life dare I say. The lead writer of this game said he intended to 'lead astray' and 'corrupt' the youth with games. Bravo, mate. You did it. I actually had a massive hangover yesterday, probably on the same scale as the one in game, and said some ridiculous things to an old friend which I very much regret now. 'Inland Empire' and 'Electrochemistry' doing their jobs, eh?

The characters portrayed in this game are some of the best I've ever seen. Klassje...what a lass. It's a pity I didn't have a proper closure with her in the end. I actually know a bourgeois woman in real life who's exactly like Klassje, dangerously attractive and filled with hedonism and despair, and she talks in that same cold, distant manner which repels and absorbs me at the same time. Dora, yes, my own Dora is getting married in a few months, and I had more than a few of these desperate and pathetic phone calls with her in the vain hope that things could turn. Cuno, the little prick... I actually made choices in game just out of pure hatred towards him, like I was genuinely annoyed by his mere existence. There are so many more, and I don't want to spoil all of them.

Also, the politics. I have the feeling that one or more of the writers are hardcore socialists. I don't know why I say that but that's my judgement based on the depiction of communism in this. You see, if I were ten years younger I'd be shouting 'Viva la revolución' while playing this game, literally. But hey, it's a true RPG and my ending actually says I'm a fascist and traditionalist..... At any rate, the game is very political, not in the sense it has any political agenda, but that it carries a huge amount of political discourse with it, a nice addition to the RPG elements if you ask me. Especially in this day and age when every developer has a checklist of political correct ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ to stick to.. Stop. Let's not go there.

The writing of this game is THE best I've ever seen in any video game, bar none. And I'm talking about both the story/narrative structure and the quality of the actual composition. I'd guess that one (or more) of the writers probably has a background in Classics (Latin and Greek I mean) judging from the sheer amount of neologisms created in this game and the fact that one conversation actually requires you to read a quote from Heraclitus, in the original Ancient Greek. In any case, the level of sophistication of the writing in this game is truly amazing, sometimes even overwhelming. I, for one, would say I had difficulties decoding what the game is trying to convey half of the time...probably not that much, but you know what I mean.

I didn't even bother to talk anything about the game mechanics (which it does have a lot to it), because they are not important. You come to Disco Elysium for the story, the writing, the philosophy, the politics, and most importantly, the sadistic joy of becoming a despicable wretch. Truly, the 'Roleplaying Adventure of a Lifetime'.

...Are you ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ kidding me? I know it's free, so technically I'm not even entitled to complain anything, cuz you know...it's free. But still, 'overwhelmingly positive'? Jesus. Yeah it's somewhat polished and the graphics are alright. But guys, the game is 20 min long, max. If you know what you're doing, it's probably 5-10 min. I've seen longer ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ trailers of games! Story? non-existent. I don't know if I'm playing the same game as those in the comment section who said it has an 'interesting' or 'nice enough' story. A few sentences about some trips your grandpa took don't count as 'story' in my dictionary. Puzzles? Nay, puzzle, singular. One review called it 'engaging'. Bwahahahahha.... The puzzle (and the review) is laughable. I'll leave it there.

I know it's free, but I just can't stand it people are putting anything on steam. This is like a teaser of a teaser, a demo of a demo. What's next? Concept art? uncompiled code? maybe there are already some of those on steam, and they probably have an 'overwhelmingly positive' review as well.

I was like sitting here, looking at my screen as the credits started rolling, and methinking 'is that it?'... The story just didn't seem like it was finished. When she stepped into that gate (I got the 'somewhere else' ending), I literally thought that was the beginning of another chapter. For me, story is the biggest weakness. Very bland. The game sort of made you think something darker, more evil, more sadistic was going to happen, but in the end it was just mundane. Character development is also a bit inconsistent. Little Misfortune was sometimes a naive little girl, but at other times she makes adult jokes and talks about sex and money and things like. Maybe that's intentional. I don't know. So, what do I like about the game? The voice acting of Misfortune is quite good I must say. Art style is alright. Replay value, probably. That's pretty much it. I don't think the game justifies its 20 buck price tag. Nope, sorry.
