Who would have thunk that with a little magic from the mods and a set of wheel and pedal this eight-year-old game turned out to be one of if not THE most amazing VR experiences you can have in 2021...Luke's VR mod works so well I don't think there's much left to be desired from any official VR support. Driving around Los Santos feels surreal and the immersion of doing some of those heists in virtual reality is just something on a whole different level (just think of the one where Trevor flies a crop duster and crashes onto the cabin of a military aircraft midair, in VR). Forget about HL:Alyx, this game alone justifies purchasing a VR system.

Unbelievable isn't it, a game released in 2013 still has so much life in it and adapts so well to modern technology.

I found the rides themselves - the music, the scenery, and the delightfully sophisticated conversations - quite enjoyable. The main story itself, however, feels a little too unsubstantial and nebulous to serve as an overarching narrative that connects all the pieces, especially that the ending is such a cliff-hanger. Still, overall, it's a nicely written, artfully presented story game that blends in elements of magic realism, stream of consciousness, and just a tiny bit of puzzle solving. Not the kind of experience everyone enjoys I imagine, but definitely worth a try.

Three years ago I was sent by my company to attend a French course in Bordeaux for five weeks, with everything paid for me. A model employee as I was, I did not attend a single class and instead I toured around southern France, visited some of the finest wineries, treated myself only the most exquisite of French cuisine everyday, and generally had a wonderful time. Five weeks later when I got back, nobody realised that my French was still absolutely atrocious and from then I just pretended to be the Francophone of the team. Every time I was asked to show my French skills I'd just utter some gibberish and look confident. Thankfully, I was never in a situation where I had to deal with a Frenchman as they previously expected me to. The company has since gone out of business, and I have taken up a different career.

I don't know what all these have to do with this game. It just makes me reminisce about that summer.

Good game though.

I'm gonna put this under the 'dangerously immersive VR games' category. Be warned: you ARE GONNA BREAK SOMETHING in your room while playing this. The game has an 'automatic run' feature so you don't actually have to run in real life, but even with that you still need a MASSIVE room to move around if you want to properly hit the ball. What makes it worse is that the game is fairly realistic so you easily get very absorbed into the matches. You are swinging left and right, moving back and forth, reaching to the edge to save a difficult ball, and before you know it...

I smashed my monitor and broke a controller. Learn from my lesson. Think twice before buying this game. I know it sounds enticing to play tennis in this immersive environment, but it's just not worth damaging your personal properties.

This game is about pure, basic fun, something very rare these days in video games. No elusive story, no antagonising combats, no overly sophisticated mechanics that needs a manual for. Just the simple joy of car racing that actually works. Reminds me of the good old days when I played the first few NFS (a franchise which of course has gone bull$hit now).

I can see why this game played in VR could be the wet dream of a Star Wars fan ( and if you are one and have the hardware you should stop reading and go play it), but as a game itself it doesn't have much to offer other than a pretty simplistic space dogfight arcade. It did give me a few jaw-dropping moments in the beginning with its very nice VR presentation, but it gets old and repetitive very fast. Compared with games like Elite Dangerous which is cheaper than this, has a galaxy-sized open world with hundreds of billions of systems to explore, and offers dogfight, trading, mining as well as a variety of other activities, this is just too shallow and lacking in contents. It's the kind of game which you go in for the first time and say "oh that's nice" and never come back. Not really worth 40 dollars in my opinion.

The ultimate lure and romance of Cyberpunk is to intoxicate yourself with the illusion of escaping your current life to a future no matter how flawed it is. This game and its whole launch debacle is a perfect real-life rendition of this spirit.

A compact yet epic story about the fate of you and a community in a far away space colony.

It's really refreshing to play a game in the open word RPG/adventure genre that is not plagued with what now seems to be the industry standard "features": oversized map stuffed with pointless side chores, slow and non-impactful main story, and artificially bloated playtime filled with endless grinding. No, the Outer Worlds is a light-weight, on-the-spot RPG title that is open world (in the form of planet hopping instead of one big map) but doesn't have you constantly run around and get distracted with exclamation marks all over the map. It tells a cogent and engaging story (about a troubled colony in the Halcyon system) in which your choices make real differences and will determine the fate of the people in the colony. Moral dilemma, politics, branching narratives, you'll have plenty of those in this game. The game also has a very nice retro sci-fi aesthetics that is a bit similar to that in Fallout but in my opinion better done. The colour palette of the wilds look a bit like No Man's Sky but again, a much nicer version of that I think.

Now, where this game falls short for me is the combat. I think the developer is a bit confused as to what the combat is supposed to be. It's mostly fps but the dev seems to want to add a bit of action and stealth in it which just doesn't work very well. I tried a bit of a stealth action in the beginning, but then you realise it's pointless so you just end up gun blazing everything. The "ability" system (especially your companion's ability) is also pretty useless...

This is a solid game that we desperately need in this genre no doubt, but I still think it feels more like a 39 or maybe 49 dollar mid-tier offering. Full price is stretching it a little bit, but I'd still recommend it.

Another £ucking pretentious 'artistic' piece of utter $hite that masquerades as a game. Empty, anti-fun, with self-glorified thematics. These games are to the gaming industry what that disgusting urinal of Duchamp is to modern art. If that's where modern games are heading, we are all doomed.
