This game has fundamental design issues. In it's attempts to be difficult like a "souls" game, it punishes players who haven't done their research online before starting a new stage. In a difficult game that is designed well, players are able to learn quick and adapt their play style and strategy. They are Billions forces long drawn out maps where a player wont have the chance to learn anything about the "difficulty" of a stage until 30-45+ minutes into a level, only to realize they probably should have researched something else in the Skill tree to help on a specific map. Failing a map once or twice doesn't bother me and I enjoy learning what I should do differently on each level. But when it gets to the point where the Skill tree heavily dictates your chance of winning, and players are not able to foresee which upgrades to take OR respec in the Skill Tree.
They are Billions has some great potential, but a "difficult" game should never feel like it has incorrect choices that leave the player lacking features that feel necessary to be victorious.
