The game so far, has bad reviews, mostly because of the 30 frame limit, and not "expected high def graphics"

However.

Usually I will jump on the graphics bandwagon, and say oh I expect more from a game brought out on todays market, graphically. But Mafia 3 does something rather strange that makes me change my usual approach.

Animation - This really helps with the graphics I feel, from what i've played (Up to the betrayal video time "1h 46m") the animation in all scenes is really done well, and it looks like care has actually been taken to make the story cinematic. For me anyway, it has helped me look away from the fact the graphics arent what you'd possibly expect. There are ofcourse a few things that need worked on, but this is Mafia 3 day 1, it's expected in todays gaming market for patches required after release, its become norm.

Graphics - In they're own way, they are pretty good, they arent great, but they are good, certain things have been given great detail, such as you're clothing, cars, buildings and the random objects in the game such as Lamps, fridges etc.
The sky however, is a bit different, not at all sure if i like it, or if it will grow on me slowly, the clouds do a pretty invasive change of light across the roads etc, and at first I thought it was some weird distance/load bug, personally I reckon they need to give that a bit more attention but who knows, It's not game breaking, there is an odd somewhat non smooth sky reflection on you're vehicle, which is kind of annoying, but again, not game breaking. Shadows are ok, nothing amazing but so far they havent had any major issues that I have noticed.

Sound - So far, the games sound has been incredible, the music for one is very well added and comes in so far at good times, guns sound and feel amazing ( I use a xbox one elite controller ), explosions, car doors, and overall world just sound good.

Driving - I have to be honest here, when i watched the trailers originally way back months ago, the driving looks like some odd crazy taxi arcade style crap, however, I think they have died it down a little, I've chosen the realistic driving setting in the gameplay menu and prefer it over the normal driving mode, and so far, it's good, the hand break is a little action hero but It's incredibly easy to use which is nice, i've not used much other than the starting car and a few car's somewhat similar, but so far it's nice, and the boats drive pretty well with the water.

Story - So far i'm not too far in the story, i've only really revealed what the trailers showed us few weeks back "the betrayal" etc. But, for once, not often recently, I had to actually stop myself continuing after looking at the time and realising i've got work in a few hours, like previous Mafia's the story so far, is well done.

It's different going a black guy, and some would say they took 2 major risks. 1 You are against the mafia, and 2 You're playing a black character lead, for me I couldnt care about colour, I do however love the Mafia side of play, and I was worried and somewhat dissapointed upon first information release that you will not be following the roles of the previous games "being the gangster" so to speak. But so far, it's working, while playing I never even said to myself oh wait...but I aint the mafia, I aint the Italians etc.

Give the game a chance, the negative reviews are beyond stupid, to review the game negative on the basis of its 30 "atm" fps cap, is stupid, the game still works, it still has the good story, and everything i've mentioned above.

Sometimes I wish steam reviews had some kind of idiot free mechanic, but hey. Play the damn game.
