The age is obvious yet it still holds up pretty well in 2024. Totally worth it, especially if you can get it discounted like I did..

Great game for a discounted price (Simply because there is very little content to justify 40 bucks).

This game is actually scary. It's so good that I want to play more, but I am too scared to do so.

I hate it because it breaks the foundamentals of the game. At first it's really funny but it progressively gets old and annoying. All the human killers in this game are oversized with few exceptions. At least make chucky bigger, like make him half the onryo's size. In multiplayer videogames visibility is important in general.

The best DLC so far that also happens to have been removed... Thankfully I got it before it became very expensive.

It's a masterpiece without exaggerating!

The graphics look very sharp and clean even without anti-aliasing. The animations during fights and running over obstacles, vaulting etc are very well done and Leon feels like a real person for me, something that other games have not managed to achieve, at least for me. The facial animations are a bit weird outside of cutscenes though, and that's okay I suppose.
The gameplay is fun, the jumpscares are great, what else can I say? It's a masterpiece! A must-buy! And I see myself easily re-playing the story.

The mechanics are more refined than in the previous games as well as the graphics (slightly), the weapons differ much more and they are more interesting.
However in this game you will find yourself riding a horse for hours and the situation when you face bosses where it either feels like you're severely overleveled or underleveled occures very frequently because the game is not linear. So by design this is bound to happen and it ruins the dark souls sauce. It just doesn't feel as rewarding fighting bosses in this game as it does in dark souls 3.
Also the dungeons. Oh man they are literally copy pasted. There are like two variants and you will be able to find them many many times. The game has many reused assets and it hurts it. The senario where you're riding for 20ish minutes only to find the exact same dungeon just with better loot makes exploration feel lame.
Overall, I am going to say it, I prefer ds3 over this game, but that doesn't mean it 's not a good game. I recommend getting it on discount though.

Score 6.5/10

The company knowingly pushes updates that break old paid content.
They put skins, battlepasses and new paid content in absolute priority. So, if the new patch breaks the already existing killers, hitboxes, animations, perks etc. THEY DON'T CARE, they push it anyway.
Also, AVOID this game unless you got friends to play with, because as of right now soloq is in the WORST state it's ever been with people literally giving up and disconnecting from the match every other game.
To top it off the main gameplay loop has been unchanged for 5 (FIVE!) years. To be fair they can't even make proper reworks of existing killers, so there's that.

First time I ever tried a sniper elite game was with sniper elite 5. I got hooked after I saw videos of the invasion mode on youtube. I bought it with a 20% discout it at 39,99 EURO.
The game is the most fun I ever had with a videogame in quite some time. However there are a few things I want to point out:
1. There are bugs (major too!) in the game that occur consistently and ruin the fun at times. Examples: If you pick up a weapon from the ground and drop it by drawing another one from your existing loadout, the dropped weapon becomes glitched in the ground and it can't be picked up again. A MAJOR bug that occurs with 100% consistency is the following. Let me give some context first. There are "kill lists" in this game. Each mission/map has a special target that if you kill in a very specific way like causing a huge chandelier to fall on them. In the case of the chandelier there is a chain on the wall with a prompt to "sabotage" and you 're supposed to "sabotage" the chain when the target is below the chandelier... Right? Nope! The mission will fail if you do so. Instead you have to SHOOT the chain! :D. I found out below a youtube tutorial that many people did it like that. The issue is the SAME for all the other kill lists I tried so far (I have not completed the campaign yet. I might update if I have something new). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iJkI3cXVGec The video is about the kill list in the second mission. It has spoilers so maybe don't watch it, BUT take a look at the comment section. Many people are confirming the bug. And you may look up tutorials for the other kill lists, it's the same stuff.
2. Sniping is optional for the campaign but a must in invasion mode (which happens in someone else's campaign mode, but you get the point. It's only essential for PVP). It doesn't occur a lot, but when you do snipe it feels satisfying! With the xray slow-motion killcam and all that. Though, long range sniping is rarely a thing due to level design.
3. Level design! People complained that there are too many "walls" on open areas (like fences which you intentionally can't vault) that add to the feeling that you're restricted to where you can go. Also, your movement is often blocked by something slightly tall that you could normally walk over it and there's generally some inconsistency about how tall an object is and whether you can walk over it or not.
To the "walls" though, I would like to add my own opinion. I like it because if an area was too open you would just walk in a straight line to your objective. Now you have to be more strategic and it adds variety to the level. The way the boundaries of the mission are designed give less of the feeling that you are in a room but leave you with a quesion. "Why tf can't I go there???" I hope I gave you an idea about this part. I don't dislike it, but I don't like it much either.
4. To be continued.

Do you have a high refresh rate monitor? Too bad!
Enjoy your terraria experience at 60fps with v-sync, because without this specific setting the screen flickers while you're playing the game.
