Highly recommend playing with "The Force Engine" mod (just google "the force engine dark forces") to get modern controls, higher resolution visuals etc. Finally beat this game after 28 years! Classic game that only suffers a little from old-school FPS level design where it can be easy to get lost at times (map is your friend once you get used to it). Still had to use a guide a couple times to figure out where to go. Players born many years after this game came out won't have the advantage of nostalgia that helped me blaze through this, but with modern controls with the mod I mentioned above anyone who enjoys classic FPS shooters and Star Wars should be able to enjoy.

Great concept, fun core gameplay, but matchmaking is atrocious.
As soon as you get to Rank 11 past the trainee/noob levels, which was only a few matches, every single match is full to the brim with Rank 100 players with tons of gear you don't own as a noob. Before that point it was a blast, now it just kinda sucks.

Love the visuals and the gameplay a lot. Reminds me a little bit of geometry wars but with swords and such. I got a code for this game, but I think it's well worth the early access price point with all the content so far. Really looking forward to future enhancements to the game to polish things up a bit more especially for the controls and the menus, but it's still fun as is. Can't wait to see what's next for this.

So far so good. Gameplay is well polished and optimized for PC. Probably the most I've enjoyed a single-player-only Resident Evil game since RE4. In case it helps match with others' tastes, I finished 4, 5, 6 and enjoyed them all despite flaws in the later ones. Couldn't get into 7 which felt like too many cheap jump scares for my tastes and I wasn't a fan of the american-horror-movie type setting. Could never finish anything before 4 because of the horrible controls, though I am slowly playing through RE2 remake which is a major improvement, but I am moving through this one much more quickly and enjoying the experience much more. Would really recommend this if you enjoyed RE4 and/or a "dracula" style eastern-european setting and if you enjoy the first person perspective take on the series. Pacing is good, and they've drawn a good balance between building tension/atmosphere, giving you room to breathe, and action.
