For the longest time I've been asking myself "when's the next WipEout game going to come out"?

I grew up playing WipEout Fusion on the PS2, falling in love with tracks like The Future Sound of London's "Papua New Guinea", Luke Slater's "Bolt Up" and Utah Saints' "Sick" just to name a couple tracks out of a stacked soundtrack. Sometimes I'd even mute the TV and play Trance compilations like Trance Mix '99, Tranceformers and Gatecrasher Global Sound System. It's gaming memories I cherish, and the effect that the style and flair of that game had on my still forming brain is forever lingering. I've played Wip3out and WipEout HD since and man they're just such brilliant games - addictive fast pace racing to one of the best soundtracks in all of gaming.

Since the closure of Studio Liverpool I've been keeping a close eye on Sony and checking out PlayStation's State of Play presentations in hopes of a crumb of WipEout, much to my disappointment. I'd always think to myself "man, why had nobody tried to replicate that style and feeling of earlier WipEout games"? (ignoring the attempts that have been made prior to this to... varying success)

Oh man have I been missing out because THIS IS THAT GAME!!!!!

Oozing that 90's futurism that WipEout etched into my brain, controls perfectly, banging soundtrack that takes me right back to my childhood - I'm so mad at myself that I've missed this for so long but this is the game I've wanted for YEARS!

Oh but you can also import your own music into the game and create unlimited playlists that you can turn off and on so you can have your own Trance, Drum and Bass or hell even Dubstep playlist? Oh and it has full mod support for custom ships and tracks among other things??? Oh and it has VR SUPPORT?????

If I don't sink 100 hours into this I'm doing myself a disservice.

Alright I've beaten the main story now

The game is a perfect spiritual successor to JSR but pushes things to the next level with bmx and skateboarding. I mainly used a skateboard during my playthrough but all options are heaps of fun. The story is solid and definitely going through.

I'm not great at this game and I already know I'm going to struggle to 100% it, but I'm probably going to go back and at least try. Maybe.

Main thing for me is the OST. Hideki Naganuma, Reso and 2 Mello are hype additions, but the wev, Sebastian Knight and Proux cuts were also big highlights. Definitely a game to play just for the OST but the actual gameplay itself is rad.

EDIT: You can now mod music into the game. You can also mod in graffiti and there is a multiplayer mod. GOTY.

Super unstable for me, crashes constantly. It's a shame as I've heard this game has gotten pretty good now.

This game is rad. Not had this much fun with a game in a long time. Incredibly tight, fast paced, speedrunning focused action platformer with a banger OST by Machine Girl. Dialogue is a bit cringe inducing at times but also quite endearing. I can look past the dialogue so drenched in sexual tension that I might drown a horrid death because by the end of the game I really cared for all of these characters. Also the only game where I've actually cared about my global leaderboard score - even after beating the game with all ace medals I want to go back and try to get faster and faster times. Might be the best game of the year.

So now that the full MCC is out on PC, is it worth the full bundle price?

I mean, yeah. It's Halo on PC. But what's more it's a solid collection of ports that have little technical issues and is seemingly going to be kept supported for a while to come yet.

My biggest worry is how are 343i going to keep player interest with the current seasons going as they are? Unless you're a hardcore Halo fan like I am, I could see it being quite difficult for players to remain invested in the game. 343i can only pump out so many season passes with skins and name plates before the rewards become meaningless.

I think if the game ever gets to the point where user created content becomes an integral part of the game and a pipeline is created that allows user created content to be played on official matchmaking servers, as well as a custom games lobby browser implemented, full modding support implemented and finally a functional file share system, then this game will become a timeless classic that you can go back to over and over again and still experience fresh new content. For now, the games are still fantastic (it's Halo what do you expect) but I can see the game in its current state becoming incredibly stagnant.

This is a fantasitc game, but I can't recommend it in its current state.

The gameplay itself is fantastic. I'm brand new to fighting games, but the controls are intuitive and the gameplay is fun. The story is great fun, and I found it to be a great tutorial into the game itself.

But the Netcode is absolutely awful right now. On Day One, there weren't enough lobbies to go around, so you'd be waiting 10 minutes just to connect into a lobby to play the game. However you can create an offline lobby to access story mode and the such.

This would not be too much of a problem, if online matches weren't inexplicably laggy and connection drops constantly. I can't tell you the amount of times I've been in an arena match, having a fantastic time, then all of a sudden I get kicked from the lobby.

This game is brilliant, but please avoid until they fix the online aspect.
