It pains me to give a negative review, and the negative part has little to do with the current state of Helldivers 2, and far more to do with a past event that has not been corrected. Shortly: In the beginning, Helldivers 2 had little restrictions on what areas were allowed to play and buy the game, but after Sony publicly announced their plans to roll out PlayStation Network integration into the game, countries that were previously allowed to play but locally do not allow PlayStation Network for whatever reason, were removed from being allowed to purchase the game.

Simply, I want the game re-listed in ALL of those countries. I have no right to a refund, I thoroughly enjoyed my 34 hours of gameplay, but I absolutely refuse to stand beside this disservice to even a minority of players and be part of positive user statistics, no matter how much I enjoy the game. Either we all dive, or none of us dive. Re-allow the countries without PSN and this review will change.

TL;DR: Fantastic game, infuriating publisher made a bad decision that I am fervently against.

A cult classic of a game, but Activision please, have mercy on our wallets.
It's still selling at nearly full price, and the DLC's haven't really changed.
Would recommend on sale, but ONLY on sale.

For the record, I played the Xbox One release first, and wanted to play on Steam to be on with more of my friends, more easily.
I have a flight stick.
This game does not want you to use a fight stick. Without a full HOTAS setup, it's keybinding system is at best useless. It does not allow for multiple functions or button combos (think things like Stick Button 1+Trigger to fire a missile) and as such means you need NUMEROUS buttons readily available, which you can only easily achieve on a HOTAS setup.
It works fine on a controller, but utterly awful on a stick. Default keybinds are certainly questionable to insane, as if it was never properly playtested on a stick alone. Debating refunding this, but will certainly give up on my flight stick.

Souls 3 was my first souls game. It took me some 3 hours, and 20-30 tries to beat the Gundyr, the first boss. The pure exhilaration of that final, triumphant victory hooked me for over 2 years, long after I beat the game and DLC's. I incredibly highly recommend the game to all who can afford it. Sadly nowadays the Online playerbase is mostly quiet aside from a few popular invasion areas/hard boss fights.
If you strive for a challenge, this is one of the games. Ashen One, Be sure to bring more souls...
