Even in LAN, you can't play multiplayer :((

For the first time, I found myself immersed in a game for over eight hours without a break. The music in Frostpunk 2 is a true delight, with moments so captivating that I paused the game just to savor the atmosphere. This immersion speaks volumes about the game's ability to captivate and engage me.


I thoroughly enjoyed the progression from "foreman" in Frostpunk 1 to steward, and ultimately, to captain (though I shall abstain from revealing further details, so as not to spoil anything).


The game introduces a senate/council system alongside several factions, each with their own particular obsessions and their agendas. It's challenging to keep everyone satisfaction high enough without wasting too much time. Some decisions will inevitably displease certain. The dangers posed by Mother Nature and the strains of managing or enduring distressed individuals, can make this balancing act even more difficult. Time is definitely not your ally in this environment.


At times, I felt as though I were seated in the Supreme Chancellor’s chair from Star Wars, striving to make decisions for the greater good. The choices you make throughout the game profoundly impact the storyline, and will inevitably return to either haunt or flatter you, depending on your morality and consistency.


You may sometimes find yourself grinding to the death to secure the approval of the majority, while in other instances, you might deliberately step aside, allowing a vote to proceed untouched, knowing full well the assembly will reject it. (I LOVE DEMOCRACY)


I won't tell you all about my entire experience, for fear of spoiling the journey, but suffice it to say, I found myself deeply immersed. The game did prove somewhat challenging to grasp at first, requiring me to start over a couple of times.


A word of advice: Frostpunk 2 is not a mere upgrade or update to the first game, but rather an entirely new gameplay adventure, continuing the story within the same atmosphere. I’ve read on forums that many were caught off guard, or perhaps didn’t fully comprehend the differences in gameplay. Some, it seems, hadn’t taken the time to try it before expressing their displeasure. Be altruistic, responsible, and strategic... or not! It is up to you to conquer this vast, unforgiving cold-blooded world against nature's wrath. ‘We must all face the choice between what is right and what is easy.’ :))
