Touching and Thought Provoking

This game is very special to me as an aspiring mortician. Having followed the artist Jacquelin Deleon who creates some of the artwork for this game (one of my biggest inspirations to start drawing), as well and the game being inspired by Caitlin Doughty and The Order of the Good Death who inspired me to pursue a career in the funeral industry, this game was a treat.

The game is simple, via emails you interact with co workers and family members of the deceased, you prepare the body for the funeral by embalming or cremation, attend their funeral giving a chance to speak to their loved ones. In it's simplicity, it is really insightful, touching and through provoking throughout. x

One of the most beautiful game experiences I've had

I came into journey having experienced Sky (my favourite game of all time) by the same company.

Journey, as the name goes, focuses on your journey. You, the traveller have robes made of fabric in which the robe and its embroidery develops as you experience the game. The same fabric is found through your journey, it is the bridge, the algae, the creatures, you. Not only is the world beautiful but you feel so connected to it as you are made of the same fabric as it. And you're not alone, you may find other travellers during your journey, having only your call and your fabric to communicate creating some beautifully unique interactions.

The first time I experienced Journey, I sobbed as the credits rolled, overwhelmed by the beautiful experience.

I have come back to it to develop my robes embroidery and to 100% the games achievements, even get the white robe. Each time, getting lost in the beautiful environment and atmosphere, and the unique experiences created by those I encountered in my journey. x

Beautifully Psychological

This game is one of my favourites. It is simple and effective in what it is, and if you read the description, you know exactly what you're getting. As the description says it is a walking simulator, nothing chases you, there are no monsters nor tasks. You just walk through the endless maze of the poolrooms/backrooms. However, the feeling of lost and alone and how there is nothing you can do but walk is where it feels scary. No nothing chases you, but only hearing your own breath and steps, and water, you start questioning if what you heard was indeed you, if what you saw was a reflection or something else, as well as other moments where the game breaks its own rules so cleverly to haunt you while never taking away from all the time you have to be mesmerised by the beautiful sighs of the poolrooms the game offers. It is relaxing and truly frightening at times.

I played the game entirely first and later went back to 100% it. I can still safely say I haven't seen all it has to bring as there are images in the trailer I didn't run into so there is plenty of replay value for the price it is.

If you want to get immersed into the feeling of getting lost in the backrooms, this game is for you. x
