It took seven years and a volunteer mod team, but slaying nazis and robbing their gold is now just as fun as cop clicking.

Starbreeze, consider contracting MUG team's services when you finally get around to PD3's skill lines rework

Currently the cream of the crop when it comes to 4p co-op. I couldn't ask for a better simulation of a dwarven mining corporation harvesting everything it can from a hostile bug planet, because if I did, that simulation might not let me get piss-drunk at the bar before leaving on a mission and flinging myself sixty meters into the air with a shotgun.

late 2022 update: with Back 4 Blood and Payday 2 having been improved by patches, it's harder but I think still correct to call this the cream of the crop of 4p co-op FPS. Can definitely wear you down over time and doing missions solo can be pretty lengthy even with Best Bot Bosco, but the latest season has brought some good changes.

ps please revert the plasma rifle nerfs now that the hitscan assault rifle has been buffed so much, tia (:

FPSes like Doom and Quake live and die by their level design. DUSK has by far the most creative level design I've seen in a retro or retro-esque shooter, slowly but surely turning up the insanity dial until it's busted off completely. Great weapons, great power-ups, DUSK is an extremely fun time and you should check it out. Respect the soap.

I've been hooked on this game ever since I got my first shotgun and went around blasting dudes exclusively while powersliding. As it turns out, if you make a game with a satisfying core gameplay loop with an emphasis on movement, then you make grinding fun, then you have players grind forever, you've got the best free to play game on the market!

Doom is legitimately worth 60 bucks for the campaign alone. Not that you should buy it at 60 bucks, it goes on hella sale when there's a sale, but the value is there. You can safely ignore the multiplayer and SnapMap unless you're feeling saucy, but Doom (4) is the best modern FPS hands down. All the guns feel good, the level design is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ amazing (especially for a modern game), movement is great, and there's even an interesting story that you can mostly ignore!

I mean this review is months late, you should already own this, but if you don't ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ buy it already (on sale)

Time to edit the review once more: avoid at all costs. If you're *desperate* for a decent co-op game that supports more than four players (KF2 goes to 6), keep looking anyway and only come back if there's literally nothing else. This game, at one point, was very close to good, but years of Tripwire further developing have proven it never will be. It's possible to enjoy the game in spite of itself, but unless you're a huge fan of tedious ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and have a deeply unhealthy hatred of women, you're just not gonna click with the game. Looks like it's been monetized worse than KF1 was, too.

To sum up, let me correct part of my previous review text: "If you just want to blow off body parts in slow motion with a shotgun, this game will scratch that itch very well. It'll also just scratch you in unwanted places from time to time because it doesn't know any better." The game does know better, yet does it anyway. Thanks, Tripwire.

This DLC seems to really be getting a lot of people's goat, but it's fun and good. Kinda crashy right now, but that'll improve after a day or so. If anything, it should have been wackier - Vlad getting angrier and breaking the fourth wall the longer you do Farmer Miserable, for one - but the sanctity of Payday's ~serious crime game~ theme has been long gone and this won't push it over the edge of "too far."

oh also the new shotgun has some really good gunfeel (sounds, animations) and is good for people who want just a little bit of variety from the Locomotive
