It's funny, I am not a huge fan of retro, NES Mega Man/Mario style platformers in all honesty (always been more of a fan of games like classic Sonic) but I absolutely fell in love with this title. Not only because the gameplay itself is very tight, with great controls and fun mechanics, but also for the game's story and presentation. The story is suprisingly strong here, with a sweet love story between Shovel Knight and Shield Knight, along with a general light hearted atmosphere and cute presentation.

However, my utter love for the game was born with the free DLC Plague of Shadows, which I believe is one of the best pieces of downloadable content I've ever played. In fact I dare say I enjoyed Plague of Shadows more than the main game. Plague Knight's gameplay style is so different from Shovel Knight's, but I adored the ability to customize your bombs, and I found the love story between Plague Knight and Mona very touching.

In addition, some of the more punishing parts of Shovel Knight (knockback and instant death spikes) felt easier to handle in Plague Knight's scenario.

Eagerly awaiting Specter Knight and King Knight's (also free!) DLC. HIGHLY reccommend Shovel Knight to fans of platformers, and even non fans should give it a shot.

At this point, everyone knows the lowdown on Aliens Colonial Marines. This is not a good game. It's a terrible game with a production so troubled it's legendary. It's a game built on lies and shady behavior.

Yet I admit I don't despise this game as much as it's reputation impiles. I won't lie, I consider this game a bit of a guilty pleasure to be honest. I guess I'm such a fanboy of the Alien films that I can find a teensy bit of enjoyment. It does look and sound like an Aliens game. The sound design in general is one of the game's few good points. It does feel like an Aliens game to me, albeit an awful one.

However, while I may find some stupid enjoyment from this game, by no means can I reccomend it. Honestly it probably is one of the worst games of the 2010's. Gameplay is by the numbers at best. The Xenos are barely in it. The main campaign is pitifully short. The AI is still very dumb, though better than on launch. Graphics as is are passable but nothing great. The story is ATROCTIOUS.

Perhaps it's because I got this game with all the DLC post launch, patched and for like 5 bucks. I may find some joy here in a "So Bad It's Good" way but that is no reccomendation. Even with the admirable and impressive mod by Templar GFX the game is still not something I would reccommend.

Just get Alien Isolation or AVP 2010. Or even the classic AVP 2000.

In honor of Quake's 20th birthday and Quake Champions announcement, I feel it's relevant to say how great this gem of a game has aged.

As id's leap into 3D, and one of the first truly 3D polygonal shooters I can recall, Quake is still as much fun in 2016 as it was in 1996. The game oozes a dark, eeire and ominous atmosphere, with an interesting blend of gothic fantasy and gritty sci-fi for a really one of a kind look. The 3D graphics, though obviously very dated, are still rather charming. This is too speak nothing of Trent Reznor's fantastic soundtrack, which deeply enhances the creepy atmoshphere.

If you enjoyed Doom 2016, this would be right up your alley. It makes me very happy to say how well Quake holds up.

Having put nearly 100 hours in to this game, gotten the true ending and seen most of what it has to offer, I can say this is my favorite of the Rebirth series and can very much reccomend to fans of anime, moe, and JRPGs.

Gameplay is more or less the same as in Rebirth 1 and 2. The combat system isn't incredibly deep, but it works and is fun enough (though I still feel the Break chain of attacks is relatively useless). HDD attacks feel a bit more balanced and not nearly as broken as in Rebirth 1.

Story wise, though the Neptunia games have never had strong stories, but this one feels the best to me. It follows Nep as she is transported to another dimension, the world of the 1980's game industry, which is a novel idea and leads to fun geeky jokes about the era. The characters have always been what drives the Neptunia games, and this one brings back nearly every previous character in some form, which I adore.

I found the game relatively easy for most of the main story, but that post game content, dungeons, and Colliusum battles require strategy and will kick your ass if you aren't prepared, which I really like. It's an appreciated difficulty bump for more hardcore players.

If I had complaints, the biggest one is the continued recycling of dungeons and enviroments. There are only a handful of dungeon layouts, and "new" dungeons are simply old ones with a new enemy coat. This was a problem in Rebirth 1 and 2 and it's a bit irritating it coninues here. The required amount of level grinding is also very grating.

But overall, Rebirth 3 is my favorite of the Rebirth games and I don't regret putting in the time. Had a lot of fun! Must play for fans of Nep Nep.

Live Long and Nep Nep~

Okay, I admit. For quite a while I avoided this game like the plague. I bought it on a friend's urging, but the hype and...let's say fervent fanbase kept me from wanting to play it. I went with a pretty stiff resistance, thinking "Ok game, emotionally move me, I dare you. Just try me."

And, speaking from a mindset like that, I can say the game 100% derserves EVERY bit of praise it gets. It's a stellar, stellar expierence, and at 10 dollars is one of the best bargains on Steam.

The characters are just a joy, the music is amazing, the story is thought provoking and interesting and the bits where it directly addresses the player reminds me of Spec Ops The LIne and Metal Gear Solid. The gameplay too is a decent bullet hell game as well.

This game is clearly taking a ton of inspiration from the Mother/EarthBound series, and as a fanboy of those gems, I'd go as far to say Undertale is a spiritual successor to them.

Seriously, play this game. Just play it. Don't be put off by the hype: it's well, WELL worth it.

10/10 would hug Toriel again. <3

No hyperbole, I think The Binding of Isaac Rebirth is one of the best, THE BEST, games available on Steam. Hell, this might be one of the most addicitive and fun games I've played in my life. Everything that made the original Binding of Isaac fun is back, but the game has been polished tenfold, there is so much new content, and it's basically better than the original in everyway.

That said, this game is not for everyone. The content and subject of the game is groutsque and dark, and the gameplay is hardcore rougle-like. I think one of three reactions are possible.

1. You will find the game disturbing and sick and be put off by the content.
2. You won't mind the content but might find the game a bit too hardcore and think it's kind of frustrating and unrewarding.
3. You will completely fall in love with it.

I firmly am in the third. The new soundtrack is A+. dark, foreboding and brilliant. And with the new expansion, Afterbirth, the game is brimming with soooooo much replay value, words can't describe.

HIGHLY reccomend that every person should at least give the game a try. It might not appeal to everyone, but for those it does, there are few rouge likes brimming with more content and fun than this masterpiece.

10/10 would kill Satan again.

Just finished this, and have to say it was a pleasant surprise. A really fun, cute, and lighthearted story, likable characters, and an okay combat system. The combat felt like the weakest part of the game I admit, and at times the game relies too much on level grinding and enemies with cheap attacks.

In addition, I noticed the game was guilty of re-using dungeons, just with a new enemies.

However, the story kept me playing, as I mentioned, a lot of silly, entertaining dialogue and a great tongue in cheek look at video games.

Overall, very enjoyable, and it made me a fan of the series. Well reccomended for fans of moe or those looking for a light JRPG.

Wasn't expecting this simple game to hit me like a truck. I've had my own version of Emily, as I'm sure many others have had, though replace AOL with phone texts. High school friend that nearly became more if I had the courage to talk to her about it, and we went through basically the same events as this game. Including the drifting apart. We don't talk anymore.

Depressing as ♥♥♥♥. But HIGHLY recommended. If anything it made me thankful for the friends I currently have now, and makes me want to talk to them.

10/10 would be heartbroken again.
