Updating for 2025 - I can't recommend the game in its current state.

The company has clearly cut server costs to save money, and as a result you're lucky if you get more than 1 round on the same server before it becomes a laggy nightmare. Sometimes all of the servers are messed up and you're better off just playing something else. Additionally, they've seem to have stopped processing reports of bad actors, resulting in a marked increase in toxicity in chat. I no longer have faith the developers have the means or interest in maintaining the game in a playable state.

Do you wish you could fight with swords but not have to play with nazis? Other games in the genre tolerate or encourage such people, but not here! TBS bans toxic personalities right quick, so you can get back to hacking people up without their ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥*.

How's the game itself? This is the most fun game I've played in years. I can't think of a game that better captures the feeling of being the main character in an action game better than this. It's great.

The skill floor is relatively high - even as a noob, you will get kills and they will feel awesome. The skill ceiling is in the stratosphere, and while very-very high level play borders on animation exploits, everything below that is a contest of how well you can utilize the game's systems. Combat is a lot deeper than it looks.

Try it. You will have fun. You may not be _good_, but you'll get at least a few kills and they'll be very satisfying. If you decide to get good, there's a LOT here. It's like getting good at Sekiro, that's the only game I've played that comes close (100%'d that game, beat it 8 times), and if you DO get good, you can take on multiple opponents teamed up against you and win using nothing but skill, which is incredibly fun.

* as you can tell from some of the other reviews there are a lot of players of other games in the genre that are big mad about not being able to scream racial and homophobic slurs out into the world. These people do play the game and you'll probably see some gross chat, but when reported the mods do actually take action, usually very quickly (sometimes in real time! with moderator server messages!). Trolls get shown the door and that's a big reason why I like the game as much as I do.
