Some tips I would highly recommend if you're new to this realm:
+ Keep up with your team and stay close
+ Scavenge items
+ Don't let yourself exposed or alone too much(stay around blocks, buildings, team)
+ Learn the specific sounds of the Special infected
+ Don't go on realism yet if you didn't experience everything the game offers (it can get pretty bad trust me :D)
+ Try to learn some b-hop (it will help you one day lol)
+ Also try to 'crown witches' (doesn't apply in Realism mode!)
+ Learn the basis of a gamemode (if you want to play a Campaign with your friends, battle in Versus or resist in Survival/Scavenge)
+ In realism, go for the head (great with AK47 and sniper rifle)
+ In your journey, you will find toxic players - trollers - teamkillers. Just find yourself some active buddies and play games on "Friends-only" :D
