Brothers - A Tale of Two Sons combines simple mechanics, memorable gameplay, and a beautiful story to result in one of my favorite games of all time. The game is short (seeing as I bought it yesterday night) but it is dense with nothing superfluous and, like a good book, I can see myself playing it again and again to renew the experience.

The game has you take control of, as the title suggests, two brothers. The trick is that you literally control both brothers simultaneously. Now, although the page might say that a controller is needed, it actually isn't - I beat the game with my keyboard. It was a little tricky, but it didn't hinder my experience at all.

The storytelling in this game is masterful and the game, although perhaps not as graphically impressive as some other games, it certainly is aesthetically astounding. The attention to little details, the differences in how the different characters move, the world around them, the shadows, the footprints, they all add to the immersive experience that is Brothers. Even the sidequests for achievements only helped the game to make a stronger impact on me.

I highly recommend this game to anyone who wants a story, a game that will linger with them. Brothers - A Tale of Two Sons will give you a story of love, life, and growing up like no other.

Edit: Years later, this game is still memorable, and I think on it fondly. Perhaps when the magic completely fades, I'll have the chance to play and re-experience it all over again.
