This story is something special.

I cried a total of 6 times during my adult life, and 4 of them were while playing this game.

Do you like the concept of citybuilders? Planning out a neat little town, making sure it survives the hardships of the world?

Do you hate citybuilders after the first couple hours, the painful slog of micromanaging every little thing, eventually getting bored and forfeiting your plans for a dream setup?

Then this is a game for you! It takes the first stage of citybuilder games, as a roguelike (with randomized hazards, resources, and technologies for every map), and the sessions only last 1-2 hours as you race to complete tasks against the steadily intensifying aggression, and with meaningful difficulty and permanent upgrade progression. Finally, a citybuilder that I can enjoy on a lunch break!

Among the best puzzle games I've played, and roguelike elements fit it really well.

A warning to non-native English speakers: this game is non-translatable and relies heavily on English wordplay (with soundalike and lookalike words). You won't be able to solve many puzzles without a really good knowledge of the language.

Early Access Review
I like the bones of this game, but it's on a FAR, FAR, FAAAAAAAAAAAAR earlier stage than most Early Access releases.

Think "first floor of Hades" amount of content. When the combat flows it's great, but when inconsistencies start creeping in the core mechanic of precise parrying becomes annoying - and applying debuffs or joining multiplayer makes it far, far worse.

I wish there was a neutral option, but it needs a few months in the making before I'll be able to recommend it for purchase.

EDIT: Now that I've beaten the game... OH MY GOD.
Out of nowhere this is a masterpiece, outranking Hollow Knight.

...and I'm now kinda worried that Silksong will not hit the bar set this high.

--------------------------

I'm about a quarter through it and so far it's one of the best metroidvanias and soulslikes I've played.
Asian folklore is very fun to see, need more games using it!
Also, not even remotely a Hollow Knight or Sekiro clone. Same genre - sure, but it has a completely original style and combat system.

A great chill looting game with the gimmick of your car being central to exploration.

The only issue I have is that the ending seems rushed and badly balanced. First 2 zones are 90% of the game, and the final zone is far less diverse (what's your pick, red or black rocks?) and once you unlock it you can do a couple sprints to the finish, not bothering with the looting mechanics, and not really missing anything.

The game keeps teasing fancy lategame upgrades (antigrav, time dilation, magnetic tires) that turn out to be purely padding - hard to grind for, and barely useful when you unlock near-invincibility as a prerequisite.

This is a rogulike that didn't get boring and tedious by the time I finished it, which is a high praise and an incredibly rare sight - even juggernauts like Isaac and Hades start feeling like a chore halfway through.

It's one of these games where sad rock plays while you learn the touching, human story of a mother surviving in a post-apocalyptic world as she dons her road warrior outfit, breaks out guns and ancestral magic, and goes on a bloody journey of revenge against fascist birds.

Fantastic game, amazing gameplay, pretty visuals. But...

Requires a higher-end PC to run. And has abhorrent stability on some systems, the latest patch (18th Aug) supposed to "fix crashing" causes the game to crash and BSOD constantly.
