Early Access Review
Easily the best early access game I've ever played. I've never had so much fun not progressing in a game.

I have the choice of progressing in the game, AKA fighting bosses and developing my gear (which by the way, not a huge fan of grinding in games but it never feels like grinding in this game.

Or, I could just build up my base. The building system in this game opens up the possibilities of unlimited creativity. I've spent hours in this game just building bases, which by the way, isn't required by any means. It's just that fun. Minecraft building is very fun, and the aesthetic is great, but Valheim building has many, many more intricacies that give it the creativity that I've been looking for in a long time.

Overall, a phenomenal game that you can play by yourself or with friends. I wouldn't recommend any other game to my friends other than this. Truly an incredible game.

Totally worth the $20. I'd pay the mainstream $60 for this game now, and its still early access. Much love to the creators and developers of this game. Haven't had this much fun with the boys in a long time.

What I will say that's not entirely positive about this game is this:

This game is no game of the century (yet.) The graphics aren't that great. The bosses aren't that difficult. The mobs become kind of a nuisance after a while. BUT, I'm so incredibly excited to see where the developers take this game.

I've kill three of the five bosses at this point in time. I've explored a fair bit of the available biomes at this point. There are a few biomes that I've explored that are purely aesthetic (ie theres absolutely nothing to farm from them.) The developers have plans for this biome that they are working on implementing. This game is VERY new. After reading some of the negative comments about this game, I wanted to edit my review.

Yes the gear progression in this game is linear. But I feel like thats the case in almost every open world/survival game (you have to get this to get this...) But that's not why I gravitate so heavily towards this game. I don't really care that there's a small grind to acquiring things to make gear, or that I have to kill bosses in a specific order, or that there isn't a lot of diversity the biomes YET. I like this game because each step you take in completing the progression is very intimidating. You go from level one greylings doing a fourth of your healthbar every hit to the next step being a troll ONESHOTTING YOU. You build up your armor so that the mobs you encounter regularly aren't as threatening, and you move on to the next step. I don't think a game has to be more complicated than that to be fun as ♥♥♥♥.

When you purchase an early release game for $20 you have expectations that aren't necessarily high right? This game has met all of my expectations and so much more, and because of it, i'm expecting a lot from the developers in the future. Once I beat all of the bosses and make my dream base and get settled into the world, I will %100 be putting this game on the back-back burner and waiting for future updates, AND THATS OKAY. I'd still spend money and buy this game for my friends that don't own it.

TLDR;

-Very aesthetically pleasing building mechanics that make sense
-Very challenging (first time around) mobs and bosses that can be very intimidating
-Only game that I'm willing to grind materials because the payoff of those materials is really that much fun
-The only thing I think about 24/8 and made me miss work for two days so I could exclusively play it

20/10 great early access game. Very impressive for its incredibly early-access-ness and cannot wait for the content to come
