If you like persona 3/4 and arcsys games, you'll feel at home. It's a fun fighter with a lot of fanservice for persona players, especially when it comes to the actual story modes for each character.

The things that hold this back from being a decent PC port are Denuvo DRM, graphical issues, poor audio mixing, and a smattering of bugs.

tldr: A pretty amazing fighter comes to pc with a subpar port. Might be a good idea to wait for a sale.

Definitely a game of its time?

It made waves back in the mid 2010's for its humorous take on the simulator genre. Most of the gameplay is just goofing around with the physics engine, which is admittedly pretty neat for the first go.

I'd recommend it if you want a simple game for laughs, but if you seek depth or replayability you probably will not find it here.

A masterclass in rhythm games on PC.
Lets you play casually or with more in-depth elements. Music is pretty accurately mapped to a track.
Has updating leaderboards to this day!

Only gripes are really due to age: could use some better music support (maybe even the addition of streaming services or sources from YouTube) and the leaderboards/account system has some hiccups.

It was a pretty great fighting game, but the time of it being a darling indie has clearly passed. I already had a bit of a problem with how the newer content was priced.. but removing crowdfunded rewards and even editing concept art?

This is what a company does to try and save face, not a small developer. If you wanted to have a discussion about what should and shouldn't fly, that should be with the players that even gave you the money to build this in the first place.

Whether it be some gambit to get a new audience or just because the current devs of Skullgirls felt their own game's content was icky; this was unnecessary at best, and at worst a game killer. Something that will completely turn people away from playing because it's now going to be known as the "virtue signal" fighter instead of the sexy and edgy fighter it was kickstarted as.

I'll leave the old review up for posterity, perhaps something the current owners of skullgirls could learn from.

Old review: "A pretty great fighting game for its time, but I've had to effectively buy this game three times now due to the very expensive season passes.

I get that 2d animation costs money, but the cost (which is more than the entire base game) shouldn't have been offloaded on to your older players who arguably benefit less than those who had just bought it.

That being said, the game itself is pretty good. So if you can handle the risk of having to randomly invest $30+ USD every time they decide to add something new then go for it."

BACK IN ACTION!

A good time trial platformer game that you can get really skilled at. Includes a workshop for custom levels. Enjoyable to beat the times of your friends. Henk is beautiful.

Fun game!

A very fun PVP Pirate Game, has some decent depth to ship combat.

The on-foot fighting could be better and the playerbase is tiny.

Good for what it is.

2024 Edit: Doesn't work on newer Intel CPUs, will crash on startup. Some people reccomend a workaround but that isn't really a good solution

An alright game with friends, has an appealing visual style and some random objectives to sail to. PVP is the best part.

But the gameplay loop is a grind of getting treasure to sell, and not much beyond that. A pirate purgatory, if you will. PVE is unchallenging and static. Dreadful to play alone.

Decent style, little substance.

A fun sonic-esque speed platformer with a bit of a hokey story.
(which to be fair, you can completely ignore, and just play the classic mode which cuts it out)

The voice acting is fine for an indie, the music is pretty good, the spritework is detailed, and the levels are designed well. Expect to be doing a bit of precision platforming and heavy combat for bosses.

A good time overall, not bad at all for 15 bucks.

I really don't like the vertical and oversized hubs of this game. Leads to many moments where you'll be chasing a monster and then get sent on a 20 ft plunge after getting hit off a cliff.

Play Portable 3rd instead with some friends on PPSSPP.
