Very reminiscent of Bioshock (and therefore Sytemshock), with that good old Deus Ex fun sprinkled in just like Arkane's other series, Dishonored. I adore all of those games, so Prey was an instant fit with me.

Combat is fun, matching your upgrades with your playstyle is really rewarding, and the enemies are challenging. The story used some pretty bad tropes, and was generally lackluster, but the game's core gameplay makes up for it.

Overall, I got a solid 31 hours out of it when doing most of the sidequests, and it's a fun time, so I reccomend it.

My friend gifted me the game a few days ago, and I racked up 16 hours in no time. The game was definitly the hardest game I had played in years, but I managed to make it to the 4th stage and unlock 3 characters thanks to hours of grinding.

Then an update came out, and I ignored the patch notes because they were just bug fixes. The next time I started up the game, I prepared my anus for yet another hour-long game of extreme difficulty, but I was surprised to find that the game was suddenly... easy. I assumed I accidentally managed to turn down the difficulty setting, but nope, all the same.

It turns out the game had a bug recently that meant you could never level your character up past 3 (normally you should be able to get well into the teens in a matter of minutes). For 16 hours I thought I was playing the hardest game ever. It used to take me an hour to get to stage 3, now it takes 10 minutes.

Game: 10/10. Tons of fun

Developer: -100/10. Worse than Hitler. not even a peep about the state of the game despite the fact that it was the middle of a humble bundle sale

Such a simple and fun sandbox game. With the recent update that added a new map and new abilities, this game has turned into awesome.

Kinda fun, but has plenty of unforgivable sins, such as making the background blend too much with the enemies and having inconsistant physics. Can't reccomend.

The Good: Very good game, incredibly immersive, great atmosphere and setting.

The Bad: Story wrap-up is ass, SUPER linear (we're talking lead you by the nose linear), poor A.I. (stayed in one room with a knife, killed every enemy in the area by waiting until they walked in and stabbing them to death, rinse repeat)

The Ugly: The escort mission with explodey spheres of death (may cause ragequits and suicides), ROYALTY FREE STOCK SOUNDS ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ EVERYWHERE.

Most games today: Oh, you died? Sorry about that, we'll lower the difficulty for you and give you a ton of buffs. Now you can kill everything just by looking in its general direction. This is fun, right? Right guys?

Dark Souls: Oh, you died? Get over it, ♥♥♥♥♥.

Also, it says that a controller is reccomended, this is a lie. A controller is -required-.

The best stalker game in my opinion. Be sure to try out the amazing mods for this game too. The COMPLETE mod is good even for the first attempt at the game, as it essentially improves everything about the game without taking away from the original experience. After beating it at least once, give the MISERY mod a try; it makes the game much harder, much more realilistic, and dramatically improves the atmosphere. Even seasoned stalkers will jump every so often at a sound from the darkness.

The other two stalker games are great, but this one.... this one....

For the first time in a VERY long time I actually uninstalled a game halfway through because it was so terrible, and this was that game. This game is a clear example of what is wrong with most games today, it does everything wrong. It is absolute ♥♥♥♥. Buy CoP and SoC and play those, not this one. If you REALLY want to simulate playing this game, just play one of the other ones and hire someone to beat your head in with a hammer while you play, it's exactly the same.

Fantastic game, I'd even say I liked it more than Amnesia. A very important note for everyone though: PUT THE GAME ON HARD MODE. Anything below hard allows you to survive 6+ hits and even KILL the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ monsters with little effort.

The atmosphere and setting are way better than anything Amnesia could hope to be, but the level design is mediocre at best.
