I am playing this on my Steam Deck and loving it! Sure, I'm running it at the absolute lowest settings and as a result it runs at a low resolution and is thus quite blurry. But I'm getting 30 fps in most areas. The game is a slower paced exploration game with puzzles, melee combat and stealth. Gunplay is a part of the game but it's not a twitchy shooter that requires 60 fps to make it playable. The resolution aside, the graphics look pretty good at low settings. The raytraced lighting is heavy on the Steam Deck, but does make it look good.

If you're used to playing third-party ports on Swich (like The Witcher 3 or Wolfenstein), then you'll have no problem adjusting to this game. If a Steam Deck is your only way it's better than not playing it.

How did I get it to run?

1. Went to command line in the game's Steam options and added the line: "radv_legacy_sparse_binding=true radv_zero_vram= RADV_DEBUG=nodcc %COMMAND%"
2. Lowest settings. Turn off motion blur, depth of field and chromatic abberation.
3. Set the resolution to static and the resolution scale to 50%
4. In the Deck's quick access menu limit the fps to 30 frames

You should be ready to go.

FSR3 is coming in a future patch, so that should make life a little easier to run this game.

All in all, I recommend it even on Steam Deck!

A great management game that makes you feel more like you are a F1 driver/team than the official F1 games have every made me feel. Also has that "just one more turn" feel that great strategy games have.

Played it on my Steam Deck. Runs well, although I did play it hooked up to my monitor and KB+M as that fits this style of gameplay more than playing on the couch.

It's a futuristic racing game where you pilot a craft through large courses that curve and twist in all directions. The sense of speed is really good.

In essence it's a time trial racer with simple controls: only steering, braking and accelerating. But the controls are just top notch. It's never unfair. If you didn't beat a target, you know it's because you messed up corner A or the twist at point B.

During your race you can see the ghosts of yourself and your target (can be real people). A great way to see where you can improve your racing lines.

The game also has great stylized graphics, looks crisp and runs at a full 60 FPS on my LCD Deck.

I've been playing Paradox games for a long time and Victoria 2 in particular was one of my favorites. Now that Victoria 3 has arrived, and I've played it a bit, I can definitely say it is a worthy successor. It launched in a bit of a rough state, but Paradox is working really hard to iron out the kinks. Right now, with a few quality-of-life mods, the game is already very addicting.

-The economic/population simulation is very well-thought out and very fun to interact with.
-Not enough flavor at the moment.
-The game doesn't run that great on the Steam Deck. The early years are fine, but around the 1860s the game slows down to a crawl. If you play this, I recommend doing it on a system that has a good CPU.

A great throw back shooter in the style of Duke Nukem 3D. It even runs on the same engine as Duke, although everything is pushed to the absolute limit. If you like shooters like this, you'll love this one!

I played Hitman 2016 and Hitman 2 before this. Hitman 3 is a wonderful end of the trilogy. Not much has been added to the gameplay, as that was already pretty much perfected in 1 & 2. But the levels are inventive and the game is very enjoyable, even more so if you already own 1 & 2. They integrate very neatly into the game.

Only downsides are outside of the game: it coming to Steam only a year after release, IO Interactive bungling the launch and the various editions of the game being very confusing. I had to look up a guide to find out what I needed to buy.

This game is perfect for everyone who liked the Rollercoaster Tycoon games. Also, if you liked the idea of Planet Coaster but wanted a bigger focus on managing your park then this is right up your alley.

Lots of campaign scenarios, almost all relevant coasters and rides from RCT and a lot of small improvements (management, decorations) over RCT.

This is a must-buy game if you
  • Liked Unity of Command 1
  • Like the idea of a tactical wargame, but are put off by the dense and insanely difficult games this genre often produces

What did I think of the game?
I liked it a lot. I bought it on release and I have played it each day since.

Gameplay
Even better than UOC1. That first game felt more like a puzzle at times. UOC2 offers more deeper tactical/strategic gameplay. When I replayed a level, there were alternative strategies that were possible. The AI responded to them well.

The scenarios on offer were very cool. Famous ones like D-Day or Market Garden are always fan favorites, but the fact that the game made it interesting to play scenarios where you had chase the disorganized German army across France says enough about the interestingness of the game systems that UOC2 has to offer.

The only gripe I have is that some bonus objectives don't translate to later maps well. In one D-Day scenario I had finished all the objectives and route the Germans, only to be surrounded by them the next map.

If you are not an experienced wargamer, I recommend you play your campaign on Easy. Later play-throughs you can go for higher difficulties, but you need to know all the systems well to win those battles.

Tutorial
The in-game tutorial teaches you the basics. It doesn't teach you everything though, so it's only meh. Because you have to teach some things to yourself -through experimentation - I could imagine this might be off-putting for more casual players. For example, I don't remember the Reinforce/Add Specialists system being explained well, or at all, in the tutorial.

Graphics
The game looks nice. Better than UOC1.

The main menus are very basic. Feels rushed for some reason.

Audio
The music and sound effects are perfectly serviceable. They all fit the time frame and get you in the right mood for the game,

Bugs/crashes
I've only encountered two bugs while playing: the loading percentage of a map can go beyond 100% at times. And I couldn't take over an encircled HQ for a few turns.

Crashing is a bit more prevalent. Never while playing a battle thankfully, but I have had times where I could not get a battle started. The game would take forever to load or would crash. I have a feeling it has to do with other programs running, because if I ended those it would start up fine (Google Drive update and Creative Cloud).

Conclusions
UOC2 is a diamond in the rough. Through patching any crashes or minor bugs could be squashed. The menu could be made more interesting and the campaign could be made more dynamic (respond to player reaching bonus objectives better). But at its core, UOC2 is a wonderful game. Perfect to build on too. Bring on fans mods and DLC with more campaigns!

I'd like to see something from the German perspective in the future. Perhaps Poland, then the Norway campaign, together with invasion of the France and the Low Countries. I wouldn't mind if it ended with a nice alt history Operation Sealion.

It's a short experience (30 min to see all three scenes for 1 player), but it's well worth the price of admission. It transports you to three underwater settings that are awe-inspiring, unsettling and at times otherworldly. This is something that you could never witness in real-life, so it's great that someone made this for people to enjoy.

Bonus, the short but sweet nature of this game makes it ideal to demo it to people new to VR. Seeing them reacting to this underwater world is a great thing to see.

If you love space and have a VR headset, this is a must buy. It's a short experience 1-2 hours, depending on how well you do in the sections where you take control, but it's well worth full price. And once you're done with it, you can show it to your space-loving friends and see how amazed they are with it. They'll probably be either crying or grinning with joy.

Basically, you feel like you're there for this momentous historical occassion and that makes this a very unique VR experience.
