Yeah, so I cried. A little.
The voice acting in this game is AMAZING! If you like a good story, this is a must-play. Not too much of a time commitment, or overly challenging either.

Wow. Check this refreshing game out. I wish Fallout had this level of detail and simulation when it comes to pure Survival Game time.
So, The Long Dark is essentially a Sandbox game (and I can not WAIT for the Sory Mode!) where you must survive the Canadian wilderness. It is not Sandbox, in the Minecraft sense lets say, in that it is not a truly random map, but it is a (roughly) random spawn point on existing, lovingly crafted maps, with varying levels of loot tuned to the difficulty level you are playing. Your four stats are Cold, Fatigue, Thirst, and Hunger - in that order. You will probably die of hypothermia. There are wolves and bears, and rabbits and deer, and if you are lucky enough not to get eaten by the former, you may survive long enough to find decent shelter and start a fire! Assuming, as I mentioned, that you haven't already frozen to death. Oh, and everything you do burns calories. EVERYTHING.
Better find a knife or a hatchet soon!
Super immersive, and an incredible effort by this small Canadian dev team. I am in love with it. I don't want to give any more away, as trial-and-error are part of the excitement of this game. But I will say, the elements will kill you before the wildlife does. Like I said - refreshing! Who needs a map?!

EDIT! STORY MODE: I was disappointed. Kind of a lot. BUT, the sandbox shines brighter than ever. Great quests and challenges.
