I give this game a thumb. Not up, not down, just a thumb.

It is clear that many "shallow" parts of this game are going to be added as DLC, which in and of itself is annoying. But, as a person who knows Paradox, it's a way of life, and they're not going to stop because it's clearly working out for them.

Victoria 3 has traded micromanagement of the army for micromanagement of the economy. In my opinion, this is a step back. I praise the devs for attempting something new and groundbreaking, but at the moment, it's boring. Map painting is fun, but it doesn't feel fun when I have to rely on Paradox AI to do my job for me. Just let me left click and right click troops to take strategic areas.

The economy aspect of the game is a mixed bag. It's good enough, in other words, but it suffers from a lack of "autonomy", where factories were built by forces other than myself. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy watching numbers go up and down with my choices, but what is the private sector doing? It's like they took the autonomy out of the economy and put it into the warfare section of the game, which in my opinion, seems like a future DLC.

The game is very good-looking. It's a fresh coat of paint. Music is good. Sound design is good... I enjoy everything else about the game, save for maybe the esoteric diplomacy system, which I still am attempting to learn.

In all, I stand by my first statement. This game gets a thumb from me. It has immense potential, it's just a shame that all of it will come out of our wallets in the future.

Enjoying it so far. The depth of this game is a breath of fresh air. Will update as I learn more.

Absolutely bodied a poor random guy standing in the middle of the road while carrying 6 crates of guns in my truck.

10/10 would play as maniac delivery driver again.
