I started playing this game during the Meet Your Match update. And I had a very good idea of what I was getting into once I started playing, because I've seen many guides and videos before playing. I had a good idea of what I was getting myself into. For years I dreamed of playing this game, and about a year ago, that dream became a reality. But it wasn't as great of a journey I thought it would be. It hurts knowing that I got into something so bad, that I really wished I never heard of it.
Team Fortress has been on a downward spiral for a long long time now, and I currently see this game becoming worse and worse overtime. A game can't be perfect, and balancing can be difficult, but there's a lot this game hasn't gotten right, and there's a lot that can be fixed, specially with the way the game works. I feel TF2 can be fixed, but Valve really doesn't seem to care anymore.
Now, on to my least favorite topic: the community. This community of TF2 players is probably on a strange balance with good or bad. I'm not saying the community as a whole is the best, or the worst, but more like it's struggling to stay in one place. The community is full of complete idiots and self centered idiots who find it fun to sit down on their asses and play the game just to ruin people's days. I'm slightly guilty of this too, but my intention isn't to purposely hurt anybody. In fact I'm against it. I found myself taking a long break from TF2 and steam as a whole recently, because everything became so repetitive. TF2 is a game where it becomes fun for about a half hour, and then you want to get off from boredom. Or… at least that's my personal experience. I now understand how some YouTubers felt (i.e. Muselk, you get the idea). Some players are just NOT friendly, and I'm talking to the ones who can't accept that a sniper headshotted them point blank when they were playing as Scout. Yeah, stuff happens, no need to go crazy about it. People like ones who spam insulting binds every single time they kill you with a random crit, or the salty idiots who think they're such a hot shot. These kind of players are what makes me avoid TF2, knowing that every match someone, someway or somehow is gonna lower everyone's self esteem, and force them to quit. Now… don't get me wrong, the community isn't 100% full of bad people, there are actually some really nice people out there, but that's not as common as to running into someone who's gonna make your day awful. I might be exaggerating, but this kind of example can point towards Free to Play players. They have the slightest idea what's going on, and when they get dominated by someone who has thousands of hours on the game, and then begin to be insulted for being bad. The new guy is not gonna wanna keep playing. The lack of new players or players that don't want to play TF2 anymore really makes an impact on the community. If nobody new is sticking around to keep playing the game, and if the veterans quit the game because of boredom, or a new interest, the community won't stay put, and eventually will die.
TF2 is truly a fun game but only to a certain extent. Personally, I do not like TF2. It's my most played game, only because it's a game that I met a lot of good people. The amount of money I spent in the game already, and if I were to quit, it'll just be a waste. This game is not balanced at all, a lot of weapons are horribly broken, the Pyro is horribly broken, and I'm not as interested in the game as I was maybe four years ago. For all of this, I'm gonna have to put TF2 on a negative rating. I don't find any fun in the game, at least very minimal amounts. I honestly think TF2 can bring itself back on its feet, and perhaps change the problems there are now. But that's definitely gonna be a long time, isn't it?
