Disclaimer: Technically I got the base game for free from the dev giving free keys to people around but I still bought the DLC once it came out.

What I can say is that this game is what a good classic shoot'em up should always be about.

In this era where the indie shmup scene is flooded with vertical bullet hell kind of game (I still love them, Crimzon Clover being a prime example) it feels refreshing to see a horizontal one with weapon power-ups and being able to crash on the floor and ceiling.

Dreamcast/Early-PS2 is back on the menu guys!

Also try Angeline Era.

A high octane, highly polished and high quality shooter you wish you could see more often in the 21st century.

Bless this fast-paced shooter that have good patterns, nice designs and a cool orange-ish art direction that goes well with the war-themed story.

And thanks god it's not just yet another bullet hell because I feel like the genre has started to become oversaturated on Steam like in the mid-to-late 90's arcade (without saying that games like Crimzon Clover aren't good, I still love them but variety is also good to see).

PS: the Streamer Mode is merely an "anti-spoiler" toggle so you could freely play without showing too much to people that may be interested to play it themselves. There's no harm about it when the game came out less than a month.

If you mix Mario 64 with Crazy Taxi in a surrealist world with som Sega Saturn-like graphics you get this.

Most world are connected within the hub but you can have access to an island level before going for the real first level.

And remember that there is no proper jump button but the boost one is a replacement for it (and a backflip), just time it perfectly to get a super boost (so it makes the game easy to handle while still being quite deep with control scheme).

This game is quite short but it feels like a great, arcadey experience similar to games like Gunstar Heroes and Alien Soldier, featuring a good amount of bosses.

If Treasure has made a FPS on PC in the 90's it would've been this one.

I have already done the game once many years ago when Xen wasn't done yet (and I see why it took so long, without spoiling much it's much bigger than the one in the original game, it is easily taking 1/4 of the full length if not 1/3).

This remake is more of a reimagining if Half-Life came out in the 00's (with the HL² retcons being taken into account) rather than one that takes the ambiance of the 90's.

My only gripes is that the game is seriously dark (not on the same level as Doom 3 but we're not far from it) and that the sound effects aren't as memorable (although you could say that nostalgia plays a big factor in it).

Good quality level pack with a nice narration. I think it's also fairer than Stories:Mel in term of challenge.

The only downside is the story overal (which does go too much against the Valve canon at least).

A short but effective back to the past (in multiple way).

I would have prefered if some of those ideas got more than just one level but they didn't overstay their welcome and for the price of the game it's entirely fine (especially regarding the small post-game with the additional content).

The only downside are the sections with the locked camera but it's at least quite fidel to the era it's portraying.

A great gameplay mod, maybe even better than Brutal Half-Life conceptually (but I have yet to try it).

The only downside is some of the enemy placement change towards the end.
