I played this game originally on the PS2 the day of release while at my friend's house and at home. Memories flooded back, especially during certain parts where the controller just outright screwed me back then and I retried so many times to the point of frustration where I threw the controller quite a few times on the floor before starting again.

The PC controls are pretty straight forward (and easier, not gonna lie, asides from that awful camera which I know is ported) asides from the walk slowly feature. You have to press and hold B in a certain part of the story to walk slowly, but since it's no where in the control binding menu, I had to resort to Google to find out else I couldn't progress the story.

I have played this game in the past countless times. The definition of replay doesn't hold a candle to how many bosses, fights, mobs, puzzles, secrets, and so on I remember still to this day. This game makes you feel: in utter control of how your Celestial Brush works. The dev said that they wanted the players to be part of the game, like a painting. This was before the Wii came out. The sales were a bust but it's still a classic and part of gaming history. The creator who made Resident Evil made this. Yeah. Wild no? It's so opposite and it shows too in Okami with the mobs based from Japanese folklore. I eat mythology up for breakfast so it was a treat playing through again for the trillionth time. Some were still pretty chilling to see though.

The story and it's message hits me harder than ever. I'm no longer in high school. I finished college in 2015 and have been working on visual novels on the side while working mainly in retail. The message from this game is complex yet also simple at the same time. Once you beat it, you can start again with what you had before with some bonus features: new skins and more. I won't say more ;)

Lot of people compare the voices to Animal Crossing and I remember distinctly looking it up in the past that they didn't want to pick a selected language to be voiced and instead mixed it with others. You can tell that they mixed it up character to character and it's a treat. Though I will say I'm a fast reader and prefer to skip their talking quite a few times since I already know the story. It'll grow on you. Maybe lol

Finally, the art. Did you know it was planned to be realistic? I'm so glad they didn't do realistic because it's a work of art come to life. The strokes, the details, the backgrounds, the animations, the effects, the music - yes that's art too - and even the menu. It all comes together in one masterpiece that holds itself up to this day as a truly unique and fun game that takes you on a wild ride.

Leap before you think into this game and just have fun! Take it easy, learn, and howl after every boss fight.

Buggy mess with severely out of touch devs of their playerbase.

Listen, you don't know how long I've been wanting to play a game like this without feeling my anxiety spike up. I've watched so many of these kinds of games and wanted to join in the fun - even tried to. PUBG, Fortnite, and Apex just gets my brain to go on haywire with "LOL let's freak out over everything - what's that sound, DID YOU HEAR SOMETHING - where did they come from!" This game was what I was waiting for. It's perfect for me. I can play with my bf, a squad or solo and I don't FREAK OUT? Wild.

Best of all: it's free! And the more you play it lets you get customization. Learning curve isn't that hard if you never played one of these games before. There's no tutorial, you learn as you go.

Give it a go. The worst you could do is not like it.

I loved playing this so much since the writing is a comedy goldmine. I've played a lot of choice games before and I find this one to be very unique in its field.

The combat in it is pretty simple just using the arrow keys, mouse, and some letter keys but I still found it very enjoyable because if you're not quick enough, you die and have to retry.

The world reminds me of a bit of Mad Max met science. Lot of crazy yet lot of funny with some intense thrown in. If you have a light stomach, be wary of some jump scares. It's not enormously detailed but it's enough to give a fright for a second. For those who wish to know, around ep 4 or 5 there is a big one that really made me jump: When you're looking for Vazquez' body, be ready to see his face skin peeled off when you turn him over. It's nasty depending on your brightness/contrast settings. On mine it looked dark since my eyes are sensitive. After this scene, you'll have to peel it off another person which is also pretty gross.

I love how it shows the % differences that players chose at the end of each chapter (known as episodes, there's 5 in total). It gives you an idea of what to go for next to see how the story changes.

Definitely buy this, you won't regret it.

I thought I was ready to get on this ride, but wow, it sure did turns I didn't expect. I thought it was going to be light-hearted, ahahahaha. Ha. In terms of the feels department, it's way more so than Hakuouki to give a comparison. The BGM is also excellent even though I have to lower it since I get distracted by it if I don't as usual in these games. The artwork and CGs are really great as well, it'll definitely make you squee and other noises - even mentally.

The MC was pretty interesting, probably my favorite right after Code: Realize's and Scarlet Fate's. She goes through development and changes on which route you go on especially some certain ninja. I would use the Discord eyes if I could. She's the kind sort but she has backbone and reacts as one would expect given her background. I can't say much or it'll give away the plot.

The story itself is like a mystery/action/romance novel which was so good, there were literally no holes I could find and you'll notice that there are differences between some routes too. The order I went is kuroyuki -> goemon -> gekka -> chojiro -> hanzo and I'm so glad I did because Hanzo's route is the greatest way to end this game on. I have only done Happy Endings since I don't think I can manage the bad ones just yet since I don't think I can survive them.

Hugely recommend this to any visual novel fan, it's very well worth the price. I bought it when it first came out with a discount but it's still worth it full price.

I was finally able to play this game and the wait was very worth it!

It's so great to see that the translation and localization went very well. I dare say even perfect! They kept the mafia feel with Italian words while also staying true to the original story. The interface work is even great too, it feels so natural with it all translated. Same thing for the opening and ending movies.

The way the characters interact with each other is what I really love, especially with Japanese humor. I've played Ceaser's route (the wolf) and I was dying with laughter. I'm a huge comedy fan so when it's matched with romance, I adore it immensely.

The MC, known as ♥♥♥♥, can be quite clueless but I find it pretty adorable. I can see why she would take everything so literal since she lost her memories. You could compare her with Amnesia: Memories' heroine, but I find that ♥♥♥♥ to be more dimensional but that's because the two games are different, the other having a spirit helping her without others knowing while ♥♥♥♥ already has someone watching over her (in this case, the Oz group). ♥♥♥♥ can be pretty silly and ignorant to some things (especially with others teasing her), she does pick up on it though later so she's not completely clueless.

The full price is very worth it since the localization and artwork, CG, voicework, and story is very lovely so far. I haven't gotten everything yet, but so far, I really like what I see. I hope to see more otome games localized by MangaGamer. Give it a shot when you can, no pun intended ;D

Early Access Review
At first I thought this was easy. Wrong, so wrong. This is a nightmare to play when first starting and yet so fun since you can share the nightmare with friends.

The world really wants to kill you, especially when it sends frog rain + summer heat in the evening during the - you guessed it - Summer. You're forced to go near the beefalo and hope that they kill the frogs or you will find yourself dead by being ganged on. Oh and be sure you have a beefalo hat since that's when they're in the rut and will attack anything that gets too close. Even birds.

Then after that, it will send hounds. Oh and I hope you had collected ice or you will die from overheating. Straw hats only do so much to keep you cool. But that's not the end of it, nope. Your farms will become withered no matter what you grow but the good thing is that drying racks dry really easy so you can make two times the jerky that you got from the beefalo and frogs that died before.

What could go wrong? Your sanity, but damn is it fun.

Why are you still reading this? Get the damned game. The story is amazing and so is the playstyle (choose being lethal, non-lethal, or a bit of both). Stealth is more fun since it equals invisible time! It's rich of storyline and it doesn't drag or get boring, so huge recommendation for those like me who care more about the story while the fighting mechanics are a fantastic plus.

Don't judge it like I did and miss out and then feel like a fool afterwards. Play it. NOW.
