Game's silly and all that, but it controls like trash, has no proper volume control, and gets old real quick. If you're thinking about getting this given recent events, don't. Even if it's on sale, just don't. It's not worth the two dollars or whatever it is.

A short, killer experience from David Szymanski. This one directly ties back to both Squirrel Stapler and Pony Factory - two of his previous titles - in regards to the lore and expands the world he's created with those two quite a fair bit. David's always been excellent at telling weird, cryptic stories with his work (DUSK being a personal favorite of mine) and this one does just that. No spoilers in this review, but for fans of David's previous works, you will really enjoy this one and putting some of the pieces together.
Gameplay is tight and punchy with a simple combat system that actually has a lot of fun and interesting ways to dispatch your enemies and optimize your combat. There's different weapon types that all function slightly differently; as well as a weapon throw, a fat kick, environmental hazards, you name it. The enemy types are not incredibly varied - but frankly, I don't think this game really needed it. I also found the game to have a bit of a sense of humor with some of the voice acting and taking pictures of murder scenes and all that - which actually restores your health - and it is clearly self aware and the writing lends itself to this a fair bit at the start.
The audio in this game is EXCELLENT. There were some parts of the game that had such fantastic sound design that, despite not being in any particular danger, really made my heart race! On occasion, you'll get music that is clearly meant to pump you up with pulse pounding, thumping percussion and brutal riffs. But, most of the time, it's incredibly shrill metallic noises and otherworldly sonic distortions. All of this combined give this game's atmosphere an extraordinary presence. Visuals are crusted in a gritty VHS filter, and only give you just enough visual clarity to be able to tell where you're going, but not enough to tell what that weird shape is at the end of the hall. It is a perfect match for the sound design.
Overall I absolutely enjoyed my short time with this game. I got through this title in about 3 hours, really taking my time with it. It's a fun, condensed horror experience with fantastic audio design, satisfying melee combat, and a deceptively complex story-line.

Definition of short and sweet - tight controls, fast paced movement, well designed levels built for using said movement, etc. The music suits the gameplay, very chill beats with busy drum patterns. Game is pleasant to look at and has simple, cool styles explored with each little world. Also super silly stuff too, considering the game doesn't take itself too seriously. There's also a lot of interesting secrets strewn about the world that create a pretty bizarre story that overlaps with some of the creator's other work. I've found myself coming back to this game consistently just to replay it in short bursts because it's so engaging and funny despite being such a short experience. Considering there's level mods, there's potential for a LOT of continued play in this one if you don't want to just play the main levels! (And wishlist the sequel, Orbo's Exodus!)

This soundtrack kicks ass. This was the reason why I returned to playing this game again, then I was reminded of how excellent and tight the gameplay and combat are, how mysterious and atmospheric the world is... play Momodora: Reverie Under The Moonlight. Then buy this album to re-live the experience through the incredible music.

After literal years of having this game and never finishing it, I FINALLY completed it as of the writing of this review. It was incredibly worth it, even years after the game's original release. It says a lot when this game's visuals, gameplay, music, etc; still stand tall after so long.
This is a great title for ushering people into the Metroidvania style of game, while still being an experience that veterans of the genre will enjoy. I'll try to keep it succinct - visuals are stunning, with lots of vibrant colors and very smooth animations for bosses and other characters. Combined with the excellent soundtrack and mysterious world, you get some seriously fantastic atmosphere here. I have to give specific praise to the OST for this game - as it's a personal favorite of mine for its beauty and intensity, and it's actually the reason why I came back to this title to begin with. There's lots of little secrets dotted around the map as well as hidden items and special items you get from beating bosses without dying. There's also great opportunities for sequence breaking in this game, adding some replayability alongside New Game +, alternate endings, different modes of difficulty, etc.
In general though, I adore this title and I'm glad I finally got around to taking it on and beating it. I'm going to shoot for all achievements as well in my spare time. And with Momodora: Moonlit Farewell on the horizon looking absolutely stellar, I think the series will continue to give us excellent titles that deliver on many fronts. Absolutely give this game a try!

Extremely cute, fuzzy, and quick. Simple and lovely. Controls very well and the music is simple joy. Honestly, it does exactly what the creator intends, as I played this with my girlfriend and it was funny trying to cross those fields of pink by telling each other to "turn off your legs" and such; give this game a try with a partner or a close friend. Will take you no longer than 20 minutes if you want to do the two endings. Very pleasant - thank you for the experience!

Incredible experience through and through. Gunplay and movement are tight as hell, soundtrack ranges from ethereal ambient to pounding heavy metal. Very interesting in-game lore as well that's always just cryptic enough to keep your mind wondering "what the hell is going on?" Had a blast with this one, I even got all the achievements for it. One of my favorite shooters I've ever played... if you enjoy brutal, fast paced shooter games like DOOM, this is right up your alley.
