Edit: Most if not all of the softlocks have been fixed,

A wonderful treat of a game! A Silent Hill inspired navigational puzzle. Small price for a small, but very enjoyable, game. Like the great classic survival horrors that inspired it, very replayable to unlock extra cosmetics or just improve your run times and ranks.

Some softlocks as of the launch period, but the game length is short enough that you're unlikely lose a lot of time to them, I personally only encountered one softlock during seven full clears (after mashing through some cutscene dialogue on my second run). Those that do exist will likely be patched out by the time most people are reading this.
Edit: Most, if not all, of the softlocks have been fixed in the updates since launch. On top of that, the game has recieved more general polish, new achievements, new costumes. A new puzzle has been added during the course of the game that extends playtime by a couple of minutes, but also makes the pacing of the game feel a lot more balanced.

The game was already an easy recomendation before but with these post launch updates it's not even more worth the small price. Highly reccomended!

Short but phenomenally sweet horror navigation puzzle. Superb atmosphere, superb pacing.

Sonic Forces confuses me. Everything I know and understand about game design points to Forces being mediocre, at best. I agree with the majority of the common criticisms, levels are too basic, linear and short, as is the game as a whole, controls aren't the worst they've ever been but they're a step back from previous games, and (at least up until the last couple levels) the game is very easy.

And yet its the most ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ fun I think I've ever had with a Sonic game, and I'm not exactly sure why.

I'm not even much of a Sonic fan, its the franchise that got me into gaming way back when with Sonic 2, but after that Rayman was my platforming series of choice, and going back to those Genesis games I find them way too frustrating to be that much fun. Out of the 3D games in the series I've played (Adventure 2, Heroes, Generations) I've had some enjoyment but nothings been particularly amazing.

But Forces just made me smile in a way videogames rarely do, and again I'm not entirely sure why.
It may be the avatar aspect. I've always been drawn to games that put a heavy focus on a character creator as a selling point, and the one in forces starts off pretty basic and barebones but actually opens up into something quite wide and varied with the ammount of items you can unlock for it.
It may be the story, something about a surprisngly grim, if predictable, tale being played out by colourful cartoon characters is strangely endearing, even if it is tonally confused.
Maybe levels being easy, linear rollercoasters is actually a positive for me, a thrill ride I can just sit back and enjoy without putting much thought into what I'm doing.

I dunno, what matters is I enjoyed my time with the game and I'm glad I decided to get it on a whim.

If your still unsure about getting the game, best to wait for a sale, at least 30% off might make it more worthwhile to you, or maybe, like me, just take the plunge, go in with no expectations and see what you come out thinking.

[You're already too late.]

OneShot is an Story-Driven puzzle adventure game made in RPGMaker
Originally released in 2014 as a freeware experimental game with it's main draw being the one shot mechanic, Closing the game would kill the main character and render the game permanently unplayable, unless you had a little technical know-how to completely clear the games data.
The game was expanded upon and later released onto Steam on December 9th 2016. The expanded version adds new story elements, upgrades graphics, simplifies menu's and also removes the one shot mechanic, closing the game now just makes a quick save, however the game does try to make you feel bad for doing so, but it also doesn't seem to mean much in the long run.
Oneshot begins with a small Neko like character named Niko waking up in a strange dark house, after solving a few simple puzzles Niko will find a large lightbulb that just suddenly begins to glow in his hands, after some more wandering around he comes across a robot who informs him that this strange world's sun went missing some time ago, and in the all consuming darkness the world started to slowly come to an end, but all is not lost, because the lightbulb that Niko found is the new sun, and Niko is the messiah who will save the world with the god of this world's guidance, aka you! Niko can communicate directly with the player to help him in his pilgrimage to to return the worlds sun.

The main gameplay loop of oneshot is exploring the dystopian appocalyptc world solving puzzles and trying to figure out how to progress further on your journey. Most puzzles are standard advenure game deals, combine items, interacting with certain items, but occassionally Niko will come across computer terminals, interacting with these computer terminals will let you interact with The Entity, another god-like being who seems to know more than he's letting on, the entity will give you anwers to certain puzzles, usually by interacting with you outside of the game, there aren't very many of these fourth wall breaking puzzles in the game, but the ones that are here range from pretty basic to kind of mind-blowing in the second half. The game is fairly easy throughout in fact I ended up having the hardest times with puzzles in the first main area.

If I were to describe Oneshot in two words, they would be 'adorably sad'. The game has a gloomy hopeless tone, many characters you meet seem to be of the impression that the world is beyond or not even worth saving and most of them seem to have accepted that they're going to die. That being sadid Main character Niko is an adorable bundle of joy who wants to save the world even if he isn't really cut out for the job. Despite the game's grim tone I would normally liken to Dark Souls, the game isn't shy of having a few more humorous moments.

The story does leave many unanswered questions by it's end however the developers hint that in the future we may get an update that adds more story content and answers the unanswered questions, as the game is currently however it is certainly a complete story, you could play it now and be perfectly satisfied..

Oneshot is definitely worth your time, if your a little apprehensive about parting with your money for the steam version, give the free version a try first, just remember.

You only have one shot.
