I am generally incredulous of free-to-play games, and always very suspicious of those that offer in-game purchases and premium memberships. However, War Thunder does not step in the pitfalls that so often accompany these paradigms.

The game mechanics are wonderful, for instance, if your rudder gets shot off, you cans still fly your plane, but you might have a hard time maneuvering. The game offers lots of strategic thinking, as well as tricky maneuvers; playing as a bomber, many times I would successfully bomb the enemy base, make it safely back to my own air field to resupply, only to botch the landing and crash - mad fun!

Additionally, the in-game purchases / premium memberships do not make this game pay-to-win. Spending real money lets you get new planes faster and unlock a few bonus planes.

All in all, a gem of a game!

Oh Gee oh man! I just completed my first play-through. I did it pretty much in one go. Just couldn't put it down, it feels like a good book! - except, when I read it again, maybe if I wish hard enough, things will go differently.

I enjoyed this so much, it'll take me a few days to mull it all over.

Early Access Review
I am normally pretty leery of 'Early Access' games, but they often seem to have a really neat concept. Consequentially, I have a few. Most suffer from game-breaking bugs, poor UI, clunky controls, and sparse updates or fixes.

Space Engineers is a wonderful exception to this standard. It already looks and feels great, bugs are very few and are dealt with quickly. I have followed the game since about March of 2014 and there has been a feature update *every* Thursday, with bug-fix updates in between.

Also very important is that the game is in a playable, indeed fantastic state *right now*.

So when deciding whether or not to buy an 'Early Access' game, you have to weigh the possibility that development will stop before the game reaches its full potential - in my opinion, unlikely in this case. But regardless of the probability:

case 1, development stops right now:
You have a wonderful game

case 2, development continues:
You have an even more wonderful game
