Speaking about the movement independently from how it interacts with any other elements of the game (combat, etc), Titanfall 2 simply has the one of the greatest movement systems of all time, if not the greatest, period. The technical depth and nuance of Titanfall's movement kept me speedrunning it for over 4500 hours from 2017-2023 (those hours are on Origin/EA App).

Anyway, the campaign is pretty good and definitely worth picking up for a single playthrough if it's on sale.

Probably the best feeling game I've touched since Titanfall 2. I actually cannot believe how much mechanical depth there is in this game. It begs you to keep playing it and learning more about its systems and how they interact.

Feels like a modern take on a classic style of game design. Good writing, fun characters, TONS of agency given to the player in how they tackle any given task. All 3 of my playthroughs (NG, +, ++) were all a blast and I was very surprised with the amount of additional content in subsequent runs. Can't recommend this enough to fans of mecha and action games in general. It's fast, it's hard, and it's rewarding.

I was genuinely shocked by how well polished this game is from a gameplay and graphics perspective. It is SUPER fun to play and move around in. There are some really interesting design decisions made in how you upgrade your character through the course of a run. Some excellent bosses with great voice acting (though the VA for some other characters leaves a lot to be desired).
Only thing that really keeps me from playing this game more is a lack of overall content for a roguelike. Feels like every run I'm encountering the exact same rooms, bosses, etc, and the only thing that's really changing is the upgrades I'm being offered. I would go as far as to say this game desperately needs more content. I was able to unlock all the heroes in my first session.
Definitely worth a try for FPS and roguelike fans, just don't expect to get a ton of hours out of this particular one.

I really wanted to like this game. I'm an avid Titanfall (and movement shooters in general for that matter) fan and my eyes lit up when I saw the social media for this game toting it as a "Titanfall-like."
Unfortunately, this game really misses the mark in everything it tries to do, in my opinion. It wants to be a movement shooter, but there are maybe 3 mechanics that I encountered that actually influence your movement (janky wallrunning with an arbitrary walljump limit, sliding, and the shotgun boost). The movement doesn't feel fun, deep, or rewarding.
The combat, and wow there is a TON of it, is one-dimensional. The gunplay itself feels lacking and there's no real feedback for shooting an enemy. The enemy AI is very basic, and in nearly every encounter during my brief time with the game, all the enemies would follow the same pathing and run around in a single group. I was actually able to manipulate their poor pathing by standing in a certain part of the arena and moving back and forth to get them to aimlessly run back and forth as well while I made easy headshots.
Speaking of arenas, the game is extremely brown and gray. Most levels just have a couple walls you can use to wallrun, maybe a building/box or two, and that's about 90% of the arenas I encountered.
In short, I'm pretty disappointed. I'd been looking forward to this game for quite a long time (and boy did the trailers do a great job of selling it), but it ended up being the first Steam game I've ever refunded. I know the dev team is small (I think two people?), and I would genuinely love to see this game improve. I would be more than happy to check it out again then. Until that time, I can't recommend this, even to hardcore FPS fans.

Finally picked this up this year after hearing a lot of hype about it and it sitting in my library for a matter of years. I want to keep this review short and just share a few things.

The game is really good, but it may take a bit of time before you realize that or appreciate it. I didn't become what I would consider to be truly familiar with a lot of the games systems and intricacies until about 8 hours of gameplay. On the grand scale of a big RPG that obviously isn't a ton, but for some people that could be what they expect out of an entire game.
There's really a LOT on offer here. Just so much meat in nearly every aspect of its gameplay. The writing and dialogue is pretty weak, but every other facet of the game shines, especially the plethora of post-game content. Speaking of post-game... My advice: don't do Bitterblack Isle until after you complete the main quest at minimum.

I randomly saw the launch trailer for this back when it first released. Thought it looked intriguing and was F2P so I figured I'd give it a download and went in with low expectations. Simply put, I was blown away.
The game's basic framework can be summed up as something reductive like "League of Legends Air Hockey." It's a 3v3 PvP game in which moba-like heroes try to score the puck into the opposing goal, but also have the ability to KO each other off the sides of the map. This core gameplay loop is *really* well tuned and thought out, and is complimented by a surprisingly well-designed cast of characters that fill a variety of roles. I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of character design, both in mechanics and flavor, and the devs at Odyssey have put out some pretty good patches that show they have a firm grasp of proper balance in this game (so far at least).
As for it being F2P, this game has a very generous F2P economy. When I first started playing the game was just throwing in-game currency at me, and you get a decent chunk per-game as well. As it stands I've spent only $5 on the game so far and consistently have more than enough in-game currency to work with. Most of the paid stuff is just cosmetics and flair.
I really encourage folks to check this out. Something about this tickled the part of me that used to be really into competitive Smash.
Also, don't let anyone fool you, controller is a fine way to play this game (source: I got to diamond on roller).

My only real gripes with the game right now are the potency of brawler/bruiser type characters and how easily it is to KO other players, but it sounds like the devs are trending the game in a direction to tune them down.

Give this one a shot.
