So I'm going to go against the trend here and say I like the game and would recommend it if you like exploration or management. While yes there are some things that appear in the trailers that I don't see in game, I honestly don't care. I still have gotten 36.7 hours of gameplay out of it so far, and I've enjoyed all of it. Yes, the dinosaurs are derpy and not as majestic as the trailers may hint at, but it’s a procedurally generated universe, how much detail could you hope for? The lack of multiplayer allows for a pause function which I find helpful, and you can still see people's discoveries around you, which I think is cool. It can get repetitive but hey, sometimes going through the motions is nice. There are several different planet types. I've encountered dead planets filled with vortex cubes where it amuses me to run, grab a cube, grab a few more while sentinels try to kill me, get to my ship, fly off, sell the cubes, and repeat. I found a planet with aqua spheres. I found a planet with jumping plants which when I got to it I just sat there for a moment and stared in awe at several different species of jumping plants. I've run into several different types of predators, taken ships out of the sky just to see maybe if I kill them in atmosphere I can steal their ship (does not work but it was fun to kill them), fought off space pirates, killed sentinels just because, raided facilities for my personal gain, increased standing with alien races, you get the point. If you set goals for yourself then the game can be very enjoyable. I understand why people are upset, but I would like to remain optimistic and hope they come out with free DLC to add more, but all these people getting refunds make that less likely (and quite frankly, if you have over 20 hours and got a refund, you should take a moment to think about how you managed to blow 20 hours in game then turn around and blast it). I appreciate this game and enjoy it still, and it's quite an impressive feat for such a small studio. So, Sean may have gotten a little optimistic when advertising, he has hopes and ideas for the game which makes it likely for them to continue, but not with all the hate. That'll take the motivation out of someone. So, in summary, set goals, enjoy the things that are in the game, don't sweat the trailers, and it's an awesome game that you can dump hours of your life into, negative emotions will be less likely to get a response out of the studio than positive ones. (That is assuming they had best intentions at heart, I'll give them a couple months before I change my mind about that).
