Early Access Review
I didn't even need to see any gameplay, I read the description of this game and bought it right away. As a person whose interest in the sport of hockey began with "Wayne Gretsky's 3D Hockey" on the N64, I'm always looking for more arcade style hockey games.

In terms of indie arcade hockey titles,"Old Time Hockey" (which was renamed "Bush Hockey League") was decent, and "Super Blood Hockey" didn't do much for me - but "Tape to Tape" had me hooked almost immediately. The overall presentation is excellent, I really like the art style and music choices (the shop music reminds me of something out of the first "Borderlands", and I love goal score music with chugging distorted guitars). But the main selling point of the game is it's inclusion of roguelite elements. I'm not the biggest fan of roguelite games, but "Tape to Tape" implements the concept extremely well. I can't wait to see how the game progresses as development continues, this is a really strong start.

Now, I don't breathe exclusively from my mouth, so I went into this understanding that it's a work in progress. The game is currently in early access, hiccups are to be expected from time-to-time. I didn't encounter anything game breaking, just a few framerate stutters from time to time. That being said, even in early access, this somehow still has less bugs and glitches than NHL 23.

It's like the show "American Pickers" but with characters that are actually likable.

"Gotham Knights" needs a hotfix / major patch ASAP. That won't surprise you if you've played... well, any game within the first week of it's launch in the last decade. Frame rate issues, stuttering, crashing - I've experienced all of this on every quality preset / resolution. Right now, the game can't go above 30 FPS without stuttering. There's a major optimization issue here. Not surprising, as Batman: Arkham Knight had a disastrous PC launch (but the issues were eventually fixed).

Technical issues aside, I've enjoyed my time with Gotham Knights so far. I honestly wasn't having fun with it at first, but after trying out all of the available characters - I settled on Red Hood and I've been having a good time playing as him. I definitely recommend trying out each individual character before writing the game off completely, because they are vastly different and cater to different play-styles. I also had to stop myself from comparing the game to the Arkham series, and other superhero games. This game is not as polished as something like "Spider-Man" by Insomniac, which is literally the gold standard of superhero action-adventure games (to me, at least). But take this with a grain of salt, because I'm an idiot who likes pretty much every open world game (I even enjoyed Crackdown 3).

I can't recommend purchasing it for it's launch price, wait until the game hits $30. By that point, the issues will (hopefully) be fixed.

I've been eagerly anticipating this game since it's initial announcement (over a year ago, time flies). And even though I've put a lot of hours into "Two Point Hospital" (55 hours on steam, at least 15-20 hours on the Xbox for PC app) - I was a bit leery about "Two Point Campus". I figured it'd be sort of a re-skin of TPH, with some updated assets and an added building system. But with the short amount of time I've spent with the game, along with the multiple deep dive videos I've watched leading up to it's release - I had nothing to worry about (and neither do you).

"Two Point Campus" feels like an entirely new game, while still feeling extremely comfortable to those who played "Two Point Hospital", and definitely seems like it will be more welcoming to new players than it's predecessor. I got the hang of TPH after a while, but the difficulty curve out of the gate can be a bit intimidating for some players (in terms of the price management, staff pay management, and treatment management systems). But it seems like quality of life was a BIG concern when Two Point Studios developed this game, because it's really easy to pick up and play.

If you liked / loved "Two Point Hospital", this is a must-buy. If you've enjoyed the various university packs in "The Sims" titles, and wanted to manage the school yourself - this is also a must buy. I'll update this review if I run into any glaring issues with the game.
