it has some of the worst most cringe worthy voice acting ive ever heard (with the exception of jared) but that aside its a really fun game!

Early Access Review
(the original review just said “australia” so i figured i would update it lol)

a beautiful mashup of games like half life, prey, scp, terraria and project zomboid, abiotic factor is genuinely one of if not the single best survival game ive ever played. it has everything youd want in a survival game: building, crafting, exploration, preparation and immersion while on top of that having incredibly charming visuals, music and setting, varied npcs that range from comedy relief to helpful and cunning, a surprisingly large amount of enemies and locations to fight them in as well as a massive array of helpful, awesome, but also creative equipment that only adds to the immersion and whimsy of the setting. not to mention it has incredibly coherent, curious and interesting lore and incredible world building, structured very similarly to the earlier mentioned prey (which is in my opinion a masterclass of world building)

much like project zomboid, abiotic factor also features a character creation system that allows you to tailor your scientist to your desired role in either single and or multiplayer. you can be a security officer who has a natural affinity for firearms and combat, a botanist who specialises in growing plants and gets benefits for doing so, or just go with the versatile lab assistant who is a jack of all trades but master of none. or nothing!
or, if youre like me, be the teams “mama” who stays at home, cooks, maintains the crops and tends to the wounds after battle
the game also has an extensive accessibility and customisation panel that allows you to alter the game to your precise liking, which can be revised and edited at any time throughout the playthrough. turn the game into a breeze, disable specific areas of the game you dont like (including the very core mechanics like hunger and thirst), or experience pure hell on earth, crank everything up to eleven and live in constant darkness by setting all of the lighting of the game off as your enemies stalk you from the shadows and will rip you apart in one hit.

im sorry if it seems like im bigging this game up, but i genuinely cannot sell it enough. its fantastic, so much fun, so funny and whimsical while also being incredibly immersive and creative with how it goes about its systems (you need soil to grow plants in… where do you think thatll come from?)

i deeply love this game and am always looking for new people to play with. feel free to hit me up on steam! ❤️

one of my favourite games of all time hands down. so customisable! you can truly slay the hordes in whatever way you want in whatever locale, as whatever character archetype you could ever want. even a few animals!

dumb fun, as all good games should be. vampire survivors mixes that old/indie charm games used to have with retro graphics and a love for the craft, plus the positives that have come out of the modern day gaming space like frequent updates. one of the few games id buy over and over again just to support the devs 🫶

i dont really review things but this game really disappointed me that much! :(

as someone who loves wrestling empire (another, superior, game by this developer), has played it for over 200 hours and also factoring in that its now moddable, old school is quite literally the same game but replaces the genuinely fun, challenging and engaging wrestling career with a kinda boring school career that feels like an extension of the open world sandbox fun that wrestling empire also has, which is a side activity. because when its novelty of being funny wears off (which even if your an adhd brained, easy to entertain person like me it eventually does. trust me), you continue playing the actual wrestling game… but here its just the side activity xd
more features have been added like the ability to drive cars and a much larger open world but again, it feels like a side activity… to top things off this game even has the same graphics, sound effects, ui, animations, models, even character clothing, characters themselves (some of which are wrestlers by the way) AND the whole array of wrestling moves AND the wrestling empire areas, including the very ring you fight in… in a game without wrestling!

if you are going to buy one of mdickies games, get wrestling empire. its kinda objectively the best as you get all the fun, random mayhem as seen in his other games PLUS a genuinely fun and surprisingly deep wrestling game, AND mods, for the same price as this game! and if you already own wrestling empire, dont buy this game out of hype like i did. just go and play that instead haha
this game should at the VERY LEAST be SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper, or a dlc to wrestling empire, because thats what it feels like it is. a dlc without the main game attached to it… since its the same game he could literally just port it into wrestling empire too if it he wanted to… very dissapointed. refunded! :(💔
