L4D2 represents the best and worst of online gaming. And playing with friends is what negates most of the bad and turns this COOP into something special.

PROS
*One of the best COOP games of all time- playing L4D2 with friends helps provide you a consistantly (<--important keyword) fun experience.
*Variety of gameplay modes- VS, COOP, and tons of others to choose from
*Improved gameplay mechanics over the orignal- In the original the survivor team could all get in a corner and melee away for eternity if they wanted. Such a simple move that could really just kill the intensity of a Versus match. L4D2's new infected addresses this among other things. Allowing for a more fun Versus mode.
*Source 2 so it will run well on a lot of different computer builds

CONS
*One of the worst COOP games of all time- if you don't play with a group or friends you are introduced the hades of the Public Lobby. A place that makes Mos Eisley look like the Hamptons. If aliens judged humanity by the behavoir on the public lobby we would be selected for extermination.
* Characters/Atmosphere/Music- I didn't connect/feel empathy with the new group like I did the old nor did they seem to have as good chemistry. I don't dislike the new characters, it just felt like going from an A+ group to a B-. Seeing daylight maps was a breath of fresh air playing the first campaign, but there was too much daylight in the overall story arch. Lastly, the creole'ish Dixieland horror compisitions seemed a bit forced and confining. In these 3 areas L4D shines more brightly over the sequel.

Overall, love this game. Valve is working on L4D3. Will it ever see the light of day? Mosty likely, but I can't see the third installment improving much over the gameplay of this game. When it comes to gaming I welcome my doubts to be proven wrong. After all, who doesn't want every game to be the best I ever played?
