TLDR: If you need a game to play while you turn your brain off and listen to music, or an audiobook, its pretty good, otherwise save your money
This game is a downgrade from JC3 in every way
I loved flying in JC3, and the wingsuit courses were the best. This game did away with them for a simple 3 ringed system that, while sometimes challenging, is never fun.
Story was never a strong point for these games, but JC3 had some fun characters, while I feel absolutely nothing for anyone in this game.
The weather system can be fun, but it's a "make your own fun" thing rather than something inherently enjoyable.
The game map feels empty and small, even though it is littered with challenges and missions. JC3 was guilty of this as well, but never to this extent.
Visually it feels like a slap in the face. It has higher resolution textures and more detail than JC3, but JC3 did more with it’s low-res textures than JC4 has managed to do with it’s high-res ones. Some people attribute this to JC3’s high contrast colors, but a part of it is that it didn’t feel like JC3 was trying to imitate real life, it had a slightly cartoony edge to it. JC4 feels like they tried to make it more realistic and failed miserably.
I still like the game and play it, for the same reason I liked JC3. I play games while listening to audiobooks or watching a show in the background, and this game doesn’t require the focus other games demand. Otherwise this game has little in the way of redeeming qualities
