I somehow missed BG and BG 2 when I first discovered different classic RPG titles back in the good 'ole days. I totally sunk in Fallout 2 but I have never tried another famous Interplay classic until now.

As much as I still prefer the post-apocalyptic setting over medieval fantasy, I immediately fell in love with Baldur's Gate 2. Not much to say about the Enhanced Edition as I didn't even read about the differences between the remake and the original installment (and to be honest, I don't really care about them).

After nearly 20 hours in-game, I can already say it's a 10/10 for me and I haven't even finished Chapter 2 yet. The depth of this game is overwhelming and I only regret I didn't pick it up years ago. I won't bother describing all the treasures BG 2 has to offer as other beautiful souls already did it with the utmost care a long time before me.

WHY DID I WAIT SO LONG TO PLAY THIS?

This beautiful gem comes from the times when turn-based single player games were still a real challenge. It's a great western experience where you can approach your goals in a variety of ways.

Maybe I'm looking at Desperados through the nostalgia glasses but for me, it's only comparable to Commandos 2 in terms of playability.

I was waiting for the legendary Mafia vibe for 20 hours but sadly it was not delivered (I haven't played any previous Mafia titles yet).
As already mentioned, the game is very repetitive and it just feels like playing a mediocre GTA clone. Its biggest advantage is a fun combat/shooting system but that's really all.

Don't get me wrong though, Mafia III is not a BAD game, I just simply can't recommend it for the full price (I've got my copy from a mystery bundle). Even during a sale, you will find a bunch of other similar titles that are better and cheaper than Mafia III.

Easily one of the best RPG games I've ever played.

• Great formula (upgradable village + randomly generated dungeons + purchasable perma-death characters + VERY WELL thought turn-based combat system in 2D, which is actually being stolen by a few titles nowadays)
  
• Refreshing idea of mental disorders, addictions, etc. (which may actually provide different bonuses, not only flaws)
  
• Beautiful cartoon graphics (again, kind of stolen by some studios)
  
• THE NARRATOR + Audio overall
  
• Atmosphere of hopelessness

Strong 9/10 and much love from me.

Great for quick sessions (e.g. during a break at work) and parties (smoking magic herbs advised).

I'm forced to change my review to negative as Amazon/Smilegate is still unable to address the bot problem since the very launch of the game. It came to a point that the game is unplayable for legit users.

Currently, most of the playerbase are bots, so if you really wanna keep on playing this abomination, get a bot yourself - no point playing legitimately right now.

Absolutely great initiative from 11 bit studios - currently the best Polish game dev studio. Chwała bohaterom! SLAVA ZAKHYSNYKAM UKRAYINY!
