Born Again (Again)
I played around release and while there were things I enjoyed, I didn't feel very inspired to continue because it felt like a slow version of similar games. I spotted a substantial patch note and decided to hop back in. I was pleasantly surprised that things felt smoother and the overall loop felt faster.

After the changes I feel this is now actually a fun little game with a nice community. You can teleport between settlements on the map and cosmetic items can be permanently saved between characters (for a $ cost). It also feels easier to gain honor which you use to expand your shared item bank, unlock new classes, purchase items from the blacksmith, or to unlock new character slots.

Basic loop is create character -> level up by killing enemies and completing bounty quests -> face final boss with other players -> level reset to come back stronger -> repeat until you inevitably die tragically -> profit

Mechanically, it's a fairly basic bullet-hell ARPG with an ancient Japanese theme, but once the progression system clicks with you, you'll find yourself hunting rare drops and stacking up gems to power up your blessings while trying to avoid being vaporized.

I recommend giving it a try if you like permadeath ARPGs like Realm of the Mad God or Darza's Dominion, or if you're just curious about this particular breed of "MMO permadeath bullet-hell ARPG".

I don't understand what any of these words mean. All I know is I have 30 skeletons flooding every map and this pleases me.

I recommend simply because it's cross platform and relatively simple as a time-killer.

Balance is needed as well as more content. Currently expect to grind simple mobs for a few hours before getting any significant progress or being able to upgrade your gear.

Cute game with some potential. Maybe wait for balance changes and additional content. Great that you can freely go between mobile and PC though. Mobile aiming controls could use a rework but is fine on PC when you're using a mouse.

Has potential/10

I played this in the 2000s and remember grinding and having an okay time. It was never anything special but it was playable and free. The steam version requires a phone authentication which is straight up broken. The only way to play is to use the client from their website. Don't go through the trouble if you have access to literally any other game. If you're from Turkey, I hope you enjoy, but it does not even look remotely familiar to what it was back then.

2D Sidescroller Nidhogg/Mordhau-like.

Made by a tiny dev team I believe it was basically a tech demo made for a competition that has been expanded on.

Current Features:
-Campaign Mode
-Horde Mode
-Co-op Vs. AI
-Local Co-op
-Custom Matchmaking
-Online Matchmaking

Visually the game features a dreamy dark aesthetic as you trudge across various encounters in biomes ranging from a stony keep to a dark crypt or the far reaches of the arctic. The stages are relatively simple with minor environmental effects such as sliding on ice sheets, or being obscured by tall grass changing things up between areas. Graphics are decent but optimization is a bit lacking.

The gameplay has a fair amount of depth featuring a stance based attack/block system. Match your opponents stance to block their attack and there are three stances. This results in a basic rock-paper-scissors match but is mixed up by adding shoves/kicks and a counter to said attacks. There are even more advanced techniques involving attacking from a neutral stance, feinting your stance only to attack from a different angle, and the "morph attack" ala-Mordhau. You're able to start an attack in one stance and quickly cancel it into a different angle. So overall I would say the basic mechanics have a surprising amount of depth.

The equipment you can use in every game mode has to first be unlocked through the campaign by looting it from foes and using either a perk that will unlock your current equipment set, or by completing the campaign. At first this can be pretty daunting as the campaign can be unforgiving to a new player with just basic armor and a longsword. Encounters and rewards are randomized each playthrough meaning you are faced with choices involving risk vs. reward. There are some runs where you have to plan your route in order to get a specific piece of gear and the perk to unlock it permanently, and others where you may want more lives or map vision for route planning. Both you and the NPCs you encounter in the campaign use the stats of your equipment unlike multiplayer where only weapon animations/speed affect balance. At first this hinders you severely as you'll eventually encounter a situation where an enemy kill you in one hit, but you have to hit them three times. That can be really frustrating, but on the other hand you can unlock armor and equipment that will make these enemies seem trivial in later runs. I enjoyed the campaign more once I had unlocked different gear to experiment with but getting killed by a mini-boss about eight times halfway through the campaign was demoralizing, I'll admit.

Online matchmaking was fun though it requires a very good connection or lag will actually mess with hitboxes and collision. I had some frustration in free for all matches given that sometimes you will spawn in sandwiched between people though that really depends on who you're playing with. Skirmishes are the 2v2 team battles which are a slightly less chaotic way to test your skills.

Horde mode is a wave survival mode where you and your teammates will fend off waves of randomly equipped enemy AI closing in from each side.

You can play each gamemode in local co-op or in solo encounters as well as create custom online lobbies with adjusted damage, and unlockable stages.

Some sort of ranked system would be interesting I'm sure to many people as well as making a more official "clan system" rather than just a preferred color.

There's a decent amount of replayability with the unlockable gear and stages. I could see the current campaign becoming a bit boring once you've unlocked most of the available gear, as well as some encounters are able to be cheesed by running past your opponent. There are planned updates and fixes so I'm optimistic that the game will be even better come the EOY.
Overall I would say the current state is a solid 7-8/10. More optimization and content is planned to release about every month, so I will update as the state of the game changes.

TL;DR A decent semi-realistic medieval combat game that plays a bit like a sidescroller Mordhau. Branching paths and random rewards in a campaign add a degree of replayability. Unlockable gear including weapons, helms, armor, and plumage with more planned. Features Local and Online co-op/PVP

When you get your first S ranking in a match, you may also have PTSD and vertigo from all the exploding body parts and zipping around as fast you can.

No two matches are the same. I've been annihilated by a particular player one match and the next match they're getting shut-out.

If you like feeling get blasted in zero-G while you climb the skill curve and become a mobile death machine then Lawbreakers is for you.

Ran fairly smooth on epic graphics on a gtx1080 for day 1 early access. I played the tutorial and built a base inside a ruined stone building. Unfortunately, night came and a lvl 60 panther wandered into the area outside my base and repeatedly killed me. I hadn't made a bed or anything, so I rage quit.

However, in the time I played I can see this game being good with optimization and bug fixes. It has a nice approach to skill progression. Each skill has specific methods of gaining experience, so you're incentivized to farm, craft, or utilize things useful to the skills you use most.

I would recommend it for people who are familiar with ARK but appreciate a different approach to the farm/craft/tame survival game, fused with fantasy RPG elements.

If you are looking for a super optimized, smooth finished product or a MMORPG like WoW/Everquest then this probably isn't for you.

I'll play this a bit from time to time as updates roll out, for a lot of people this is a likely a wait and see. Follow/wishlist if you're interested and wait for updates. The initial negative rating threw me off almost, but I dipped my toes and think that it's not so bad. If the devs can pull it off this will be a solid survival crafting game while also having the fantasy rpg appeal.

You can save and quit. There is a God.

EDIT: I saw this on the front store page when it launched and it piqued my interest. It was in a rough state, basically requiring you to play through the campaign in one go. The very active dev has been cranking out updates the entire time. Now not only can you save and quit, there's an endless mode, ai tweaking, and optimization!

If you're a fan of gladiatorial combat and fighting manager sims, then you're in luck with Domina. I'm happy to have purchased this game.
