Hardly worth a play. Team B didn't understand difficulty through level design. So many boss fights that are just 4 copy and pasted enemies that are the exact same, too many areas that are just a flat plane with 20 enemies waiting to jumpout, that are again, copy and pasted.

Feels like I'm moving through mud. Climbing ladders has the longest start and end animations. Woops, fell off this tiny bridge into a river, now I can just spam space and hope I can get out. Woops, fell off this bridge on my horse into a tiny river. Should be able to get out? Nope. Same problem. Spam space, hope you get out. Melee lock on is rediculously annoying. Aiming with bows is unrealistic, constantly swaying left and right like your a feeble old man Oh wait, your character is like 18, but with the bone density of a 90 year old. Oh ♥♥♥♥, tried to climb over something, now I'm stuck in a hole I can't get out of because I can't jump over this wall. Nausiating forced camera movements. What's that? You got hit by someone and it made you stumble forward, only to get hit by someone else and repeat untill you're dead? Lol. What's that? got hit by an arrow and instantly died? Lol.

This game is extremely frusterating movement, and combat wise.


Story wise?

Do you like wondering around aimlessly for something in a 600 yard radius? No? Don't buy this ♥♥♥♥. Do you like going back and forth between NPCs hunting for that one correct statement that'll let you progress? No? Don't buy this ♥♥♥♥.

LOADING?

Do you like turning off motion blur on the main menu, only to have to wait 10 minutes for the game to load? hell yeah you do. Do you like a loading screen for every dialogue? hell yeah you do. DO YOU like frusteration long loading screens for literally ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ nothing? HELL YEAH YOU DO. Do you like dying and having to wait 10 seconds to continue?HELL YEAH gasg ag FGASFG





Should of stayed in development for another 5 years IMO. 10 years is not long enough for a game of this scale.


Oh also, why the ♥♥♥♥ would you release a story game with insanely difficult combat and give the player HORRID saving options. Seriously, that's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ retarded.

Amended! I now love this game! Put it on an SSD and it's great. Install mods and it's even better.

The only few real cons, is pretending that realism isn't sacrificing gameplay. Getting ganked sucks, and until you get good at running away with the sprinter perk, and jumping at the right time to avoid being backstab stunned, so you can reposition enemies to get mini 1v1's to master strike them... OOR... Run away on your horse and pelt them with arrows. Absolutely ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ lame. It detracts from the gameplay so much, and anti-gank mechanics, even if they are limited, from For Honor already existed and were known of as a good example. Also, not having a proper save system, 12 save slots, and being forced to install a mod to not have to make potions to safe is ridiculous. Just another thing that detracts from gameplay. Other gripes I have with Realism VS Gameplay... Maces are incredibly broken vs everything else. Late game combos are pointless, and will just get you master-striked. Also, why does the bow have no perk tree?? And one of my biggest gripes... Masterstrikes should have never been in the game as is. They don't even teach you them properly in the tutorial! They say to just block when you see the green reticle and swing, but that's not true!! You have to block BEFORE the green reticle pops up, and even then, sometimes it doesn't work. Once you get the timing down though... You just absolutely destroy 1v1s. Have a mace in a 1v1? Stand and wait for them to swing, masterstrike, then step forward while holding a head-bound downward swing... You get a free hit to the skull, and most enemies are are either 90% dead, half dead, or surrendering. GETTING masterstriked ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sucks. Especially when you get that occasional bug where you don't get the master strike for no good reason, you swing because you clicked the mousebutton, then BOOM, you get mastrstriked on your perfect block swing. If it happens in late game, you're probably getting clunked in the skull, better hope you don't start bleeding!
There's also one fight I know of where an enemy has poison, and is extremely tanky. Complete ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. If you get hit, and poisoned once... You're probably dead if you're using anything but overpowered maces. Don't have an antidote? Have fun walking to a potion shop. Oh, it's night? You're dead. Reload a save. Oh, you don't have the mod for free saving, and or you forgot to save? have fun losing 30 minutes of progress.

The story... Ohohohoh.. Oh LORD the story is suuuuper good! If you take the time to listen, hear out every dialogue option, and keep your head wrapped around which characters are which, they story-writers really put out a lovely web that feels ALIVE. Strings from the start of the game can be found all over the kingdom. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ become good friends, a certain ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ in yellow grows up, and grows on you! Some find it tempting to sequence break the monk part, DON'T. It's grueling, but ultimately good, and is also thematically the most fulfilling thing to happen to Henry in the entire game.



Tl;DR

Hated on release, loved now.

Story is really good.

Ultimately, the game is really really good, feels rewarding to get good at, but still has a few gameplay issues that could of just been avoided. Bugs are now pretty minimal, but still happen occasionally. Definitely a lot better than it's initial release. Masterstrikes are a NET BAD. Mods are verging on required, at least a saving fix mod.

When a game becomes simpler and simpler over the years while not attracting new players to fill the void of decade old veterans quitting, a game slowly dies out. Dota 2 is going down a scary path that might just kill it. Valves constant lack of advertisement for one of their most important blockbuster games might just kill it. Everyone has a courier now. Everyone has free powerspikes from talents. All the good heroes are just brawler ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ good at fighting early and not caring about farming. The game has lost it's identity. For Godsake, wards cost nothing now! Can we even consider someone a support now?! Game's become too similar to HoTS and League of Legends...

I'm fearful for my favorite game of all time.

This game is fun for about 2 hours, then it becomes the same thing over and over and over. I would not recommend this game, and I'm sad that there are little bad reviews to help others realize how awful of a game this is. This game was a chore to beat, and I'm mad at myself for believing it was just a minor pacing problem in the middle of the game, wasting my time beating it.
