Writing this to remind myself to play this again when I stumble across this review in future. Charming, comforting, and silly, with fun movement mechanics. One of the very best games this year.

This game lets you create anything!

I even made a smallish YouTube career and a dozen real-life friends from this game. That's how much freedom you have.

Pilot ships. Steal stuff. Assassinate targets. Be quiet, or don't. Fling yourself out of an airlock and fly your pod over to pick yourself up before you asphyxiate in deep space. Achieve your one goal in life, or die trying.

To use a word that crops up a lot in reviews for this game, the setting of Night in the Woods is one of the most relatable I've ever experienced, and when backed up with the most 'real' dialogue I've seen in a game, makes for a comfy, but emotional ride. It might seem slow at first, but stick with it, and take in the atmosphere of Possom Springs. It will be worth your time.
