First off, conceptually cool, content of the mod is fine, its mostly the NVIDIA up-scaling being awful.
game freezes whenever i'm close to an enemy. ray tracing doesn't feel like it does enough to deserve eating my card. the up scaling looks bad, it looks like i'm walking home ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, frame generation cannot stop freezes and causes terrible input lag. i will concede that on lower resolution displays the up scaling looks a bit better, but you can see the artefacts you can see the upscale trying to compensate for the lighting aliasing on the grass and it just cant work.

a message to game developers: if this was an actual game i would have refunded it, i don't want you to pretend to optimise the game i want you to actually optimise the game. i want to be able to respond to whats happening in front of me, i want to play the game that i spent money on.

UI seems oversized for desktops and seems to be missing some information or it is made unclear like happiness accumulation. it feels like sid cant see the ui and asked for it to be scaled up so he could read it, the easy solution here is probably a scaling modifier like many paradox games have but a redesign would be appreciated. If this is addressed this will be a positive review. Firaxis has apparently already responded to feedback and is working on it so i imagine they will address it soon.

This game is very different to the other civ titles and borrows lots off ideas from humankind, which they have done a good job of improving on those systems. this does mean that some civ staples like managing workers and hunting barbarians are simply absent, the functions they performed having being entirely replaced by independent powers and using pops to improve tiles directly.

There are alot of things i think could be improved along with a number of oddities like the removal of "just one more turn" from the game and the fact i still cant build a road where i actually want it. If they fix the UI i would recommend it but not at the current price point. unless you are a massive civ fan, wait for a sale.

oh right the game, its good, worth AAA bucks. havent finished it though.

Is free and fun. gets grindy later on but can always use lower tanks and planes. custom games can be silly which is always fun. premium vehicles tend to be better but can still be easily outplayed.

most important thing to remember is: low tier is fun tier
you can also roleplay as a soviet farmer told to fly an aircraft

This game is amazing. It does have multiple paywalls that limit who you can play (OKW, US and UK are DLC) but it is still loads of fun to play without them (Comrade Stalin has all you need), and it is put on sale for 100% off fairly often too so your friends can pick up a copy and jump right in. the game is full of mechanics that pull you in from infantry routing when they see a flamethrower tank to the ground giving infantry cover when you turn it into a perfect replica of the moon with artillery.

The workshop allows you to download new skins, maps and gameplay overhauls allowing you to customise your experience. Sadly the games engine has a few limitations that make adding new models near impossible so you might have to use your imagination a bit for some more outlandish mods. Also im pretty sure theres also a ram limit in there so the game has a habit of crashing when you add overhauls that increase the amount of stuff on the field.

Also be warned i am sure that there is a soviet bias in this game, considering they are one of the starting factions it almost feels unnesisary to buy the other factions. Your playstyle depends on the commanders you choose not the country you pick, the countries feel more like style options, base building is the main difference but everyone has tanks, artillery, infantry and variations of those to fit every niche. (i mean how would they have coped in the actual war if they didn't try everything.)

a note: the game isnt really worth paying full price for in my opinion but its on sale often enough that i dont care. Yes its mainly because the game is so heavily locked by DLC. if you get your game for free then you have no right to complain but if you spent money on the base game and are dissatisfied then you have every right to be. at least their not paradox amirite

Bustling community with mods galore

HOI4 is a complex grand strategy game with a simple goal: win world war 2.

you may not like it but this is what peak performance looks like. dont be detered by the initial learning curve, this game becomes much easier after that curve is passed.

very fun, great introduction to paradox style rts grand strategy. only problem is all the events are overwhelming.

the game has been fun so far, i think adding some music would help people enjoy the game.
also i think that changing it so that your ship folows the mouse rather than relying on the arrow keys would make the game easier to play. (you dont have to negate the crappy stearing of large ships)
fun and will keep playing

Awesome Turn based strategy, i play with my freinds all the time and my PC learns to fly every time i dont launch the spaceship
